Genesis 2 to Gen 1 AV adapter Audio issues
I found this connector which seems to allow a Genesis 2 AV cable to attach to a Genesis 1 or Master System. I am not sure what this cable is called so finding more information about it has been difficult. I hooked up my Genesis 2 Rgb cable to this adapter and I was blown away by the video quality. Compared to the Composite cable I have it just blows it out of the water. HOWEVER , audio is my issue. I cannot seem to output audio when using this adapter. I tested my Gen 2 Composite cable with the adapter and it's the same issue. I have included here pictures of the adapter. If anyone knows any solution for this issue it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

It's impossible to know what the issue is without knowing how that adapter is wired up inside. The audio pins might just not be connected.
Can you use the headphone jack of the Genesis 1 instead?

From the DIN connector, the M1 Genesis doesn't have stereo sound, just mono. Because you're not getting any audio may be because a pin on the M1 side isn't connected or is connected improperly.Endgame22 wrote:I found this connector which seems to allow a Genesis 2 AV cable to attach to a Genesis 1 or Master System. For audio from a M1 Genesis, you could just grab audio from the headphone jack and use a 3.5mm phono to RCA cable.
Where did you get that cable from, if you don't mind me asking.

It looks like there are no female pins for audio in the Genesis 2 connector side from your picture:

Huh. Good eye.mickcris wrote:It looks like there are no female pins for audio in the Genesis 2 connector side from your picture:

That may be the problem. I'd say just get audio from the headphone jack on your M1.

I seem to recall that adapter was included with the 32X for connecting to a Genesis 1?Endgame22 wrote:http://imgur.com/a/62ib7

Yep, that particular Genesis 2 to Genesis 1 cable adapter was included with a brand new Sega 32X add-on back in 1994 (assuming if you bought one back in the day). However, if you want to go the RGB route with an 32X with a Genesis 1 console setup, an 3rd-party Genesis 2 to Genesis 1 cable adapter with a 3.5" stereo headphone adapter will be necessary to get proper stereo audio from it (and use an Genesis 2 Scart or Japanese 21-pin RGB cable on the 32X itself for the best visual output bar-none). I ordered one off of eBay sometime back and it works like a charm. Easy as pie.

I guess I should have been more clear, oops. I hooked up this cable to my Master System, so the headphone jack option is out for a MS obviously :/

@Goobakid I found it at the back of my work (I work at a independent game store).

Its not going to work for the Master System. You will need to get a Master Sytem/Geneis 1 scart cable. Or you could mod your master system and put a headphone jack or rca jacks for audio.Endgame22 wrote:I guess I should have been more clear, oops. Ah, yeah if the female pinouts for audio aren't there then I guess MS is out. Gen 1 could work with stereo jack I suppose. Thanks!
