Sony BVM/NTSC Snes Question
Hi guys. I'm stumped with buying a cable for my BVM 20G1E. I'm in the Uk and have an NTSC Snes that I want to hook up to my breakout cable. The issue is I don't know whether to buy a cable with 'composite + sync' or one with 'CSYNC'. Any advice greatly appreciated.

Re: Sony BVM/NTSC Snes Question
The ntsc snes has some artifacts when using composite for sync.
Unless you have a good reason not to i would use a Csync cable.
Now, on the Pal snes you CANT use a csync cable. that pin is wired for 12v instead!

Re: Sony BVM/NTSC Snes Question
Are we talking about the cable connecting to the SNES itself? Or are we talking about the SCART-to-BNC cable?
Also, even if you got a sync-on-composite cable for the SNES, wouldn't having a sync stripper in the SCART-to-BNC cable do the necessary legwork if you needed csync?
Anyhow, BVMs can take either sync-on-composite or csync, so you should be good. Some consoles have artifacts when using sync-on-composite, but for other ones there's a negligible difference.

Re: Sony BVM/NTSC Snes Question
Okay thanks guys. It urns out the Pal snes doesn't even do CSYNC and that works fine on my BVM. It gets Sync from composite video. So That cable will definitely work. If there is artifacting then I'll try out a CSYNC version

Re: Sony BVM/NTSC Snes Question
I use a super famicom on my BVM with Sync from composite video and a cable scart game cube PAL, the picture is perfect!

Re: Sony BVM/NTSC Snes Question
some people have mentioned getting a checkerboard pattern when using composite video as sync.
I have a csync cable.
the only time i got the checkerboard on the snes was back when i was using a cheap s-video cable.
