Gonna roll now, even though last weeks results aren't quite in yet, because it's convenient
Donpachi
Crimzon Clover World Ignition
Mountain of Faith
Hatenkou

EDIT: Wow, I can't believe how badly this went.
Also, fuck micrododging (Which apparently I am incapable of)
Actually probably just a really off day

Re: Death Roulette: Loop 5 -Eternal STG Tournament-
Gonna join back in this week, as soon as I get back home. Rolled now to kill the suspense.
I get
Chorensha 68k
Crimzon Clover Boost
Double Dealing Character Lunatic
Leiria -Stargazer-
Dangun Feveron.
Sounds like a cool lineup. I haven't really played much of that very much except the touhou game but looking forward to see how far I can take them! :3

All right, my second round...
Ibara
Super Aleste
Gradius (Oh boy~)
DoDonPachi Dai-fukkatsu Black Label (AWWWW BUDDY~)
Strike Gunner STG (ah...huh)
Bit of a mixed bag, this one. Should be fun!
So I really need to practice my CAVE, can still make it pretty far in Gradius, and rock all at Compile shmups. Seriously, my first time with Super Aleste and I knock it out of the park!
Jesus, Strike Gunner STG is dull. At least the music is all right.

Re: Death Roulette: Loop 5 -Eternal STG Tournament-
Alright, rolling for this week!
And I get:
Raiden Fighters Jet
Crimzon Clover: World Ignition (Arcade Boost)
Hellsinker
Raiden 2
Giga Wing
Never really played the Raiden/Raiden Fighters games, and even though I've cleared Hellsinker before I haven't played it in quite a while, so trying to get myself accustomed to the game again will be interesting. Hopefully my Giga Wing credit goes better than the last time I rolled it and barely got into stage 2...
____________________________________
Scores listed below:
Shepardus - Raiden Fighters Jet - Raiden mkII - 3 (Boss) - 4569808
I think this is my second time playing this game, I'm pretty satisfied with where I got. The level numbers went 1 -> 5 -> 15 for me, but I'm assuming that counts as reaching stage 3.
Shepardus - Crimzon Clover: World Ignition (Arcade Boost) - Type Z - 4 - 1,409,287,270
Got about as far as I could have asked for on this run, considering I have yet to make it to stage 5 in Arcade Boost. I improve slowly but I'm getting to stage 4 a lot more often than I used to a couple months ago (usually in Original though).
Shepardus - Hellsinker - Minogame (Momentary/Prudently/Solidstate) - ALL - 13735 Spirit, 6802 Kill, 11464 Token
Replay file
Man, this game's even better than I remember.
The game has 8 stages, or 9 if you want to count the Shrine of Farewell (that's arguably too much of a freebie since you get infinite lives during the Shrine of Farewell). I chose the "behind" versions of stages 1-3 since I'm more familiar with them and they're easier in general. I triggered and survived Lost Property 771, not sure if it counts as a TLB for the purposes of Death Roulette (strictly speaking it fits the definition, though its relative easiness makes it feel more like a Post Final Boss than a True Final Boss).
I did a lot better than I expected for my first try in over two years. Lot of close calls that could have ended my run, especially in stages 6 and 7. Really fun run overall.
Shepardus - Raiden 2 - 2 - 179270
Ouch, this game's hard. Similar to Raiden Fighters Jet I've only played this once or twice before.
Shepardus - Giga Wing - Carmine - 5 - 3,629,730,167,130
Managed to get my second-highest score this time, I credit my more liberal usage of bombs compared to normal for the sake of survival.
Total of at least 29 points this week (including the 2 points bonus for playing all five games for a week), possibly more depending on how you count the points for Hellsinker. Went pretty well thanks to better than expected performances in Crimzon Clover, Hellsinker, and Giga Wing, especially Hellsinker.

Round 6
DOJ BL and Turbo Force - rinse and repeat from last week. Hopefully I can do slightly better this time around. I seriously need to get my redbox operational
Managed to improve my score on DOJ I know, still nothing brag worthy but *me happy*. Turbo Force still kicks my butt on the second stage. XII Stag and Psyvariar both are games I haven't played much at all. Macross haven't been out of the box in a while but sure will get some more playtime. Fun game
15 points in total
EDIT: Missed the +2 for the week. Thought it was taken off already

Re: Death Roulette: Loop 6 -Eternal STG Tournament-
FYI I didn't bother with scores this week.
Raiden Fighters - Stage 3
Haven't touched this since last year's TRP-STGT so this result was kinda expected. I severely overestimated the bullet sealing tho... fuckin' boats.
Arrow Flash - Stage 2
Despite being told this was "easy", I think I just played this really dumbly.
Cyber Core - Stage 7
Okay, now this game was actually pretty cool. Took until halfway through the run to figure out how the power-up system worked, but for the most part I dug the music and visuals. After I did this week's roulette I even did another credit and got to stage 8... shit gets serious there.
Violent Soldier - Stage 2
My. God... I really have no words to describe how bad this game was. It's like some PC Engine dev saw Rezon in an arcade one day and went "Hey, THERE'S a good idea!". Add to all that shit the worst "charge shot" I've ever seen and... I never thought there was such a thing as a bad PCE shmup but this totally shattered that facade.
Eden's Edge - Stage 4
This went better than I thought, though I abused the hell out of auto-bomb. Playing in it's default tiny-ass window on a keyboard didn't do much wonders either.
Stage total: 18

Re: Death Roulette: Loop 6 -Eternal STG Tournament-
Just rolled Espgaluda 2 Omake. I've never played it before so it was blind, but it seems like it was a pretty free clear. Even after getting the 1cc though, I'm still not sure what the fuck is going on in that game or how the system works.
Re: Death Roulette: Loop 6 -Eternal STG Tournament-
Got my results in today. Much better than last time I was in Also rolled some pretty good games. That's bound to set me up for a real kuso set next time.
Chorensha 86k - 2-6 = 13 points. (was there something about points for clearing a loop or was that just a suggestion?)
Crimzon Clover WI Boost - Stage 4 = 4 points
Dangun Feveron - Stage 4 = 4 points
Double Dealing Character Lunatic - ALL = 11 points
Leiria Stargazer Normal - ALL = 11 points.
Overall: 13+4+4+11+11= 43 points.
Some thoughts:
First time ever playing Chorensha. Was surprised to get so far into the second loop but I had heard that the game was easy, i just didn't figure it would be to this extent. I don't think I want to play it again because its a little too long and there isn't enough differences between the loops to make it properly interesting to play through them both. Besides, the graphics are not much to my liking and i find it hard to follow what's going on perfectly when things get busy.
Crimzon Clover Boost is a game I haven't really played much at all either which lead to hilarious things such as me not knowing what to do on occasions and blissfully oblivious I would avoid bullets and run straight into a large enemy that just spawned :3 On other occasions I would press X trying to bomb when it's in fact C I should've reached for meaning that instead of bombing, i would attempt to lock on to the bullets that would shortly thereafter take a life. Got to stage 4 through very scrubby play. This is not the way one should be playing Boost. Looks like a cool mode though, perhabs I'll return to it someday.
Double Dealing Character was a freebie as most Touhou games are. Had some very fun moments going on in the run but also a lot of runs that really betray that I'm not a player that handles themselves very well when their memorization is rusty. At least it makes for a fun replay.
Dangun Feveron is practically in the same vein as CC Boost. Fast bullets and without knowing what you're doing, you'll likely get rekkt. Had some pretty brilliant improvization moments in this run but stage 4 basically is where runs that don't know what they're doing will end.
Leiria... is an easy game okay. At least on Normal. Tons of lives, slow-down button ala EspGaluda and even plenty of bombs. Its decent but not really worth a second glance by the looks of it.

Re: Death Roulette: Loop 6 -Eternal STG Tournament-
Fuck.
I thought I actually had a good shot at it this week, but it'd take a fucking miracle on my next three rolls to beat that.
Actually you get 5 points for clearing the first loop of a game, plus the 2 bonus points for playing 5 games. So actually, your score is 50.
---
Also I'm considering removing the 2 point bonus you get for playing 5 games, because I feel like it adds nothing to the tournament and it wastes time when calculating the scores. In it's place I might implement a 5 point weekly bonus, for completing some sort of specific challenge. This will change regularly.
So first, would the current participants have a problem scrapping the 2 point bonus, and second would you be interested in a special weekly goal?

lost two lives on a particular enemy in stage 2 that really threw me off.
Re: Death Roulette: Loop 6 -Eternal STG Tournament-
I'm fine with getting rid of the 2-point bonus, most people who submit any scores for a week do all five games anyway, and it's not that many points to begin with.
What sort of challenges are you thinking of?

No and yes (in that order)ACSeraph wrote:So first, would the current participants have a problem scrapping the 2 point bonus, and second would you be interested in a special weekly goal?
Re: Death Roulette: Loop 6 -Eternal STG Tournament-
I don't mind getting rid of it. It only made sense as a bonus for actually participating all days of the week. Now that people are likely doing all of these in one sitting, its basically free bonus points. No sense in keeping it around.

Damn, I'd be lucky to get to 1-4 on a non-blind CRS run. Why am I actually the worst player on shmupsfarm >_< Much less stage 4 of Dangun Feveron. I've made 3 before, IIRC..
Hell, I rolled a nearly ideal set of games last week, and still didn't loop or clear anything.
Anyway

Yeah, sounds legit. Can we also make it a thing to add an arbitrary *1,000,000 multiplier to our scores to make it more awesome?ACSeraph wrote:Fuck.
...
So first, would the current participants have a problem scrapping the 2 point bonus, and second would you be interested in a special weekly goal?

1) Create Scoring System
2) Make it a multiplier for your actual score

I don't mind. A special weekly goal sounds far more interesting!ACSeraph wrote:...

Whoa, i'm in last place but still in top10! Gotta love small communities!
About special special bonus. I'd say YES, because more variety in full survival STGT would be appreciated.
---------------------
Ikazu-san - Ultra X Weapons / Ultra Keibitai - Tac-Space - 2 - 886.600
I don't get it.
---------------------
Ikazu-san - Darwin 4078 - 1 - 9.300
I don't get it.^3
---------------------
Ikazu-san - Touhou Fuumaroku ~ The Story of Eastern Wonderland - Reimu B - Normal All(5 Stages) - 12.184.010
Home Sweet Home. Turned it into Terrorism: The Game because of Mima
---------------------
Ikazu-san - Deathsmiles Mega Black Label - Casper - C1(or 5) (or how do I count these?) - 2.9??.??? (how do i even score to first extend properly?)
How do I everything?

Re: Death Roulette: Loop 6 -Eternal STG Tournament-
Week ends in an hour and a half. I'm rushing to finish my own games, just pulled Triggerheart and though I really had a shot at taking this week, but my totally perfect run just got fucked on the stage 4 cube rush. Triggerheart is just simply not a game you can clear on a random credit even if you've done it in the past. Kinda pissed off right now, I raged a bit >_>
Edit: Just did Fantasy Zone, how in the fuck can you possibly kill the last attack of the final boss that chases you around!? God damn it I'm having a bad morning!
And I just pulled Gradius II, so that's pretty much a waste of time. Ugh.
...and the final score for the week is 44. Dunno why but I feel salty as fuck this week. Better take a break from arcade games for a while I think.

Re: Death Roulette: Loop 6 -Eternal STG Tournament-
Can't get myself to stop procrastinating, so I may as well roll for this week now:
Shepardus - Shippu Mahou Daisakusen - Miyamoto - 2 - 42100
Shepardus - Raiden Fighters - Aegis - 3 Boss - 1444650
Shepardus - Batsugun (normal version) - Beltiana - 4 - 932520
Shepardus - Touhou Youyoumu ~ Perfect Cherry Blossom - Reimu A/Normal difficulty - 5 - 216,178,620
Shepardus - Touhou Fuujinroku ~ Mountain of Faith - Reimu A/Normal difficulty - ALL (6 stages) - 297,751,150
(WEEKLY CHALLENGE CLEAR)
Final Result: 30 Points (2 + 3 + 4 + 5 + 6 + ALL CLEAR + WEEKLY CHALLENGE)
Shepardus - Shippu Mahou Daisakusen - Miyamoto - 2 - 42100
Spoiler
I barely even know how to play this game. I couldn't even find my sprite at the beginning of stage 2 and died once that way.
Spoiler
Mashing the fire button sure gets tiring after a while.
Spoiler
I keep getting scared and panic-bombing since I have no idea how large the hitbox is in Batsugun, other than that it's larger than in the Special version.
Spoiler
Lots of silly mistakes, but bossfights were actually easier than I remembered them to be since I've gotten used to faster-moving bullets now. I was getting horrendous input lag though so that screwed me up a couple times.
(WEEKLY CHALLENGE CLEAR)
Spoiler
Managed to no-miss up to Aya, though I bombed one or two of Nitori's spellcards just to make sure I would get the weekly challenge. Also managed to capture Kanako's final spellcard for the first time on Normal, so that's cool.
