Anybody have 1001 Spikes on 3DS?

Post by BazookaBen »

I'm just wondering if it still has this graphical bug or if they've patched it:

It's on sale right now but I'd rather play it on something else if it still has this issue.

Nobody?

In the way of getting a free bump, can somebody explain this review to me? Parish's take is that it's really different, but what he describes sounds basically like any NES-era platformer (except for the "untelegraphed deaths" but, in light of this topic material, maybe I'd better reserve judgement on that call). Then, in the second half, the main editor describes it being not a marathon game, and then mentions Super Meat Boy, so I'm guessing the part about "no checkpoints" is fake too.

I also wish I could guess what "Contra and The Outfoxies" multiplayer could mean. Screen after screen of spikes / hanging whales to scroll into / drop onto your friends? Big apes and bionic wheelchair men suddenly crippled by the twin diseases of peashooter mashicus + fakimus analog? I'll just punt and try to imagine Spelunky as multiplayer.

I remember I saw this being played at Comic Con on Wii U, and it looked an awful lot like Super Meat Boy/I Wanna Be The Guy. I don't remember if there were check points per se, but the time to reach where you died was very short and the amount of trial and error seemed copious.

Instead I am stuck in the America's where women rule with an iron crotch, and a man could get arrested for sitting behind a computer too long.

I've played this on the ps4. It is very similar to the two aforementioned games. Each level can be completed in about 10-30 seconds once you get good at them, so in-stage checkpoints are completely unnecessary. This being the shmups forum, i'd recommend everyone here give it a try. It's basically about learning a level through trial and error, putting it altogether, and then executing your line and making it look easy. Much like a good shmup. And there's tons of unlockable characters with slightly different mechanics to challenge you in different ways. 9/10

Can't comment on the multiplayer unfortunately. Although just opening that mode in single player it gave me a very "mario bros" vibe.

It's still broken, as far as I know, and the publisher is notoriously inept so I wouldn't expect it to ever be fixed.
