vga to component transcoder
What is the best VGA to component video transcoder that is available either used or new?
I need one to convert the output of my SLG into component video or maybe a xrgb3.

I have the Audio Authority 9A60 and it gives great results on 240p and 480p material.

For signals with such a low bandwith as 480p, it really doesn't matter which transcoder you get. Get the one you can find.
I have the Kramer which has great quality, but it totally freaks out with a SLG unit up front. It "deletes" the scanlines from a MiniSLG and goes haywire with a SLG3000. It's fine with a XRGB-3 though.
New transcoders are available from Crescendo Systems. I got the YUV->VGA version only though, not the VGA->YUV one. And another one's from Startech, see here http://www.videogameperfection.com/2014 ... ranscoder/

Re: vga to component transcoder
Thanks for the info as always
New transcoders are no longer available from Crescendo Systems. As regretfully the owner died recently.
I can only find key digital Rob to component video converter I am hoping that will be fine.
I also have another question. If I output hdmi from my dvdo and convert to component video will the slg-hd component version work well? Or will the scan lines be too light?
I like the depth of the slg3000 so trying to come up with a way to do this over component as my plasma does not have gamer mode for vga.

oh jesus, what a shame. Not only because I don't have one, but since they were really great converters.New transcoders are no longer available from Crescendo Systems. As regretfully the owner died recently.
totally depends on your TV set. There's no way of knowing without trying.I also have another question. If I output hdmi from my dvdo and convert to component video will the slg-hd component version work well? Or will the scan lines be too light?

planned to buy one in the not-so-distant future, too bad... the guy seemed to really care about his hardware designs

Wow, I just emailed with Kim on Oct 12, after buying the RTC 2220 from him. Very sad, he was passionate about his products, and gave great support.

Yep, seems to be him. His company had to be the last one still making high quality analog component transcoders. I'm sure there are still a few Chinese companies making Scart>YUV or something like that, but nothing as user adjustable and reference quality like Crescendo.

Damn I wanted an RTC2220, procrastination is never good when you want an almost 'one of a kind' thing.
He was the very last maker of top-quality transcoders, wasn't he ?

After I bought the RTC2220 for $200, I saw a canadian Amazon seller selling some for $100, you might want to look into that.

For quality equipment have a look at this
http://www.dvigear.com/pcvitohdco.html
I don't have experience with this product, but from my experience with DVIGear in general their products are high quality and customer service top notch.

that's a scaler, not a transcoder.

Re: vga to component transcoder
A little off topic but would someone be so kind to test the hdmi output of the edge converted to component video using a hdfury 2 3 or 4 and the SLG-HD as maybe this is the best option for me. I am just worried the scan lines will not be dark enough.
