No one seems to know yet. I think it's either a GBA or SNES romhack, but Cyan's name... who knows.
Also, just talk FFVI if you like. I've been doing a no magicite run for the 20th anniversary, and Atma was the first boss to actually give me a challenge. Ultros and Chupon went down in like three turns.

"Cayenne" is his real name; that's how it's pronounced in Japanese. They probably went with "Cyan" in the official translation due to the letter limit.
This dedication to his original pronounciation makes this look like a romhack.
Yes, that's Sky Render's translation from 2003. Guess whoever was playing couldn't agree with Tina's default name.
There are parts of the game that were censored or removed, just like in Final Fantasy 4 (which also has several retranslations). And, like in Final Fantasy 4, it doesn't make much of a difference. The game is still the game.
Distinctly remember a review for it, called the dialogue as lifeless as any other Final Fantasy game. Praised Woolsey for "doing something he thought only God could do - giving the thing a soul." Like him or hate him, Ted still hates how they had to butcher Secret of Mana's text in localization.
Since we're on the subject if patches, I notice there's a few difficulty patches. Anyone know if they're worth anything? FFVI is pretty easy and it would be fun to play a challenging version, if done right.

If Final Fantasy hacks in general are your thing, the FF5 Ancient Dungeon hack is really popular. Basically a "random" dungeon where you can use all classes from the beginning. Has some sketchy balance to it imo.

All fan creations/mods that tinker with this area for any genre are very sketchy balanced. Why I avoid them all.
Aw. I'm sure one of them out there makes a good effort of matching monster strength with party strength with item drops. It's fairly true to its intent - the Ancient Cave in Lufia II is actually pretty miserable itself after all.
It is kind of annoying when you see an example of how easy it is to do, though. Look at the Etrian Odyssey series; once you know how the damage formula works you can see that it's basically just a straight line of numbers throughout.
I have yet to try a hack or read about a hack that does any good in this area. If anything out there proves me wrong, then I'll gladly accept it as an exception. Until till then my view on this matter will never change. Cause time and time again I never see fans actually grasping game design & balance & fun. And from my experience of studying the games in the industry in this area for some time now (something I find very fun very natural to do the deeper I get into games), it seems you have to be Asian/Japanese too, lol, I know. But it's so true because Western devs just don't compare to Japanese devs for the most part/overall in this area either from . It's really sad. Really...
Also, the weird thing is that Japanese gamers actually my know this too?... Unless they really are being 100% raciest toward Western dev'ed games, lol.
