Recommended USB capture devices for old consoles?
Hey all, been checking around and reading up, been looking for a capture device that will let me record/stream effectively from my older consoles, preferably by RGB or component of some kind. I realize a lot of devices unfortunately do not support 240p input via component/RGB, but I was curious if there were any decent ones out there in the $100-$150 range that may be able to do so. I did find info on the XCapture-1, but that one is quite pricey

PEXHDCAP pretty much the best capture card out at the moment for that sort of stuff. Falls in exactly to your price range to.

Yeah, I saw that one as well, main issue is that it only works on PCI-E. Looking for something USB based since I'd like to be able to do capture and such from my laptop as well.Thrill wrote:PEXHDCAP pretty much the best capture card out at the moment for that sort of stuff. I heard that the Avermedia Live Gamer Portable had 240p support through component patched in at some point, but I haven't tried it.
One external device by Elgato has 240p support, but I can't remember if it's available through component or not.
One nice factor about the XCAPTURE-1 is that it can handle resolution changes (240p/480i) without ruining the capture if you use it's auto-scaling function. Every other capture card I've ever used required manual adjustment on every resolution switch.
