Any one own a Sony BVM-D24E1WU - have a few questions

Post by gamefan71 »

I am looking at purchasing a Sony BVM-D24E1WU but wanted to know if anyone has experience with one of these and if so, how does 720p and 1080i look? I already own several other BVMs and PVMs but none that are widescreen.

Apparently the same tube as the FW900, so it would look like that. Its not quite 16:10, so with the bezel on the BVM it is 16:9.

I own one of these and the picture is amazing. As I stated in another thread, I only recommend using this monitor with 720p and 1080i sources. The tube resolution is "too good" for SD signals and images will look like they are being upscaled. (They're not, they just look that way).

The biggest downside to this monitor is the overall size is somewhat small. Be prepared to use it in a desktop environment where you are sitting a couple of feet away from the screen. Also, I've heard rumors that the tubes are prone to a higher failure rate than the 4:3 curved tubes.

In 480p-720p you can play like a candy cab (very near) and is amazing. The best i have seen and the perfect partner for dremcast, Xbox 360, ...

Saidoujou in that monitor at 480p is a dream.

I own the 32" version and 480p is stunning from the Xbox, Dreamcast, Gamecube and PS2. The component output from the Wii looks so much better than it ever did on my Samsung Plasma. Only 720p sources I've tried are Soul Calibur 2 and the dash on my modified Xbox, both very nice.

It also displays 240p, but IMO the scanlines are way too thick. Worse on some games than others, but some games like Super Mario Bros. 2 are almost unplayable.

It is because of the size apparently, it might be the reason why most companies didnt go bigger than 20" broadcast monitors.

What sort of modification are we talking about here?

Probably talking about a custom dashboard.
