Having this issue on my 20l5, doesn't happen on component, or composite just RGB SCART.
Seems worse on Genesis/SNES, and a bit on PS1/PS2/Saturn.
Made a video of the phenomena!
http://youtu.be/7L0WVdPlaw8
Tried different cables, power supplies, power outlets, etc, everything works perfect on my L2.
If the PVM was dying why no issues with component?
any ideas?
Thanks,
Nyd

Re: Weird PVM-20l5 RGB image wiggle
I haven't taken the time to sort it out, by my own 20L5 has a couple waves along the top of the image, only in RGB SCART. HD component seems just fine (don't remember about composite, though I used that most recently). Unlike this, the waves are standing distortion and don't move across the screen.
Did you look inside to see if anything appears damaged?

I just tore it down, it is a bit dusty but looks clean, hooked up a bunch of systems via s-video, image is stable, no waves.Ed Oscuro wrote:I haven't taken the time to sort it out, by my own 20L5 has a couple waves along the top of the image, only in RGB SCART. Component as usual looks and works great.
I was thinking of getting a Sony BKM-129X and seeing if RGB would work better on the aux, then I'd just use the onboard for component and the optional card for RGB. (Something I wanted to do anyway.
Cept its like $200 and it might be good money after bad if it still doesn't work.
I wish I could be satisfied with my 20l2, but after seeing 800 lines, I can't go back..
Did the weird wavey lines you had, were they similar to mine, you think this is sync issue?

You can usually get a BKM-129 for $50-75. Just PM the people selling them and give them an offer. Most the times I bought one they agreed to it. I highly doubt they sell for $200, that costs as much as the monitor itself. The last BKM-129x i got (back in March) cost me $50 and it was NIB.nyder wrote:I just tore it down, it is a bit dusty but looks clean, hooked up a bunch of systems via s-video, image is stable, no waves.Ed Oscuro wrote:I haven't taken the time to sort it out, by my own 20L5 has a couple waves along the top of the image, only in RGB SCART. Thats a good idea, I would be happy to get one for that price. There isn't too many on Ebay at the moment, but I will try PM'ing them with a $75 offer. If anyone around here has one for sale let me know.Skips wrote:You can usually get a BKM-129 for $50-75. Just PM the people selling them and give them an offer. If you know of another source for a BKM-129x aside from ebay please let me know.
I spent some time on the l5 this weekend, and weirdly Saturn and PS@ work fine via RGB scart, the strange wiggling image is gone.
What seems to happen is when i try to use my megadrive/genesis or SNES via RGB scart the picture has crazy waves/wiggling. This behavior will continue for sometime AFTER i disconnect the offending devices.
The megadrive cable has boosted sync and is from retroaccessories, the Snes is from retrocablesuk and was sold to me as a composite sync RGB cable speciffic for NTSC SNES using euro scart.
Both cables work perfectly on my 20l2.
Thanks again for your advice.
