Raizing Shooting Collection
Raizing Shooting Collection
I noticed a lot of people play Raizing, if the highscore tables are anything to go by, and although the chances are close to zero for a Raizing Shooting Collection to come out, I was wondering if people would buy it? I know I would, and I'm terrible at Raizing!

Re: Raizing Shooting Collection
I would buy a Battle Trilogy collection for exorbitant import prices, easily, not to speak of a full Raizing collection.
It'll never happen.

Re: Raizing Shooting Collection
Short answer: Yes. Like special world I'd be happy just to get a bat trilogy release, but it'll never happen despite the fact 8ing is still around and still owns all the necessary ips and GOD DAMN IT 8ING stop making mediocre licensed fighting games and do something awesome for once! I mean really, the development cost of a classic Raizing collection must be puny compared to developing a licensed fighter; pretty much everything has been developed, just build an emulator and a frontend, slap some ROMS on it and ship it.

Re: Raizing Shooting Collection
Even if it was a lousy port, I would probably still buy it.
Maybe emailing 8ing would get a statement from them.

I emailed 8ing like a year ago and got no response. Then again, I don't speak Japanese. If they understood me, they probably found it offensive that I would ask them to dredge up *old news*.AFXisatwin wrote:Even if it was a lousy port, I would probably still buy it.

Re: Raizing Shooting Collection
I know that DotEmu horribly butchered the raiden fighters games, but I don't think that DotEmu usually does emulation work outside of the western world. If a raizing collection is released it'll probably never get localized for a european or american audience since pretty much nobody here remembers Raizing. Best possible scenario would be a region free 360 release.Pretas wrote:I voted no, because if it happens it'll be by DotEmu.
Of course 8ing doesn't care about shmups anymore, they just make crap licensed fighters now.

Re: Raizing Shooting Collection
DotEmu has released some old Jaleco arcade games that very few people have heard of or care about, like 64th Street: A Detective Story and P-47: The Phantom Fighter. They'd dump quick and dirty emulated ports of Garegga and Bakraid onto PC/mobile in a heartbeat if they could get the rights.

Re: Raizing Shooting Collection
It's really a shame that they put such little effort into pc ports of arcade games when it's so easy to get near perfect emulations for free. If companies that are still interested in releasing their old games on PC want people to buy their ports, they need to put in things you couldn't get in MAME like arrange modes and leaderboards. Instead they go the opposite route and expect people to put down cash for broken inferior ports.

Re: Raizing Shooting Collection
DotEmu gets away with it by selling to clueless people who either don't know that emulators exist, or refuse to use them for ethical concerns. Also, curious punters browsing the App Store/Google Play for impulse purchases. To someone ignorant or uncaring of their awful port quality, these games definitely stand out in a sea of utter turds. It's profitable because the costs of porting are near nonexistent (as opposed to a studio like M2, who puts considerable effort and care into each individual release), DotEmu just has to pay for the licenses.
Those who buy DotEmu releases and don't complain about them, while being fully aware of their issues and the existence of unofficial emulators, are probably the same people who felt satisfied with their $200 Neo Geo X preorders.

I thought the Raiden Fighters Aces collection was generally considered a good port? Or is that not what you're talking about? I haven't played the originals, so I wouldn't know.cave hermit wrote:I know that DotEmu horribly butchered the raiden fighters games, but I don't think that DotEmu usually does emulation work outside of the western world. I would also say that 8ing releases better games than "crap licensed fighters." I personally hate MVC3, but I can acknowledge that it's a pretty sophisticated, huge, popular game.

That was not made by Dotemu, the one they did was Raiden Legacy.Special World wrote:I thought the Raiden Fighters Aces collection was generally considered a good port? Or is that not what you're talking about? I haven't played the originals, so I wouldn't know.
LMAO! Popular? Sure. But sophisticated? The game is plagued with infinites and one-hit KO combos. It is the most braindead fighting game around these days.Special World wrote:I would also say that 8ing releases better games than "crap licensed fighters." Yeah, I was talking about Raiden Legacy; Raiden fighters aces is a very good port.

Re: Raizing Shooting Collection
Battle collection, Mahou collection, and sure toss in the others too. I've yet to be disappointed with a Raizing shooter.

Voted "It'll never happen" though... because... it'll never happen. Shame, as Raizing still effectively exist through 8ing... would be more even more hopeless if they were defunct a la Toaplan.

I don't even know who raizing is.

To be fair I didn't know about Battle Garegga or Raizing until a year or two ago back when I was still lurking the forums; I decided to give Battle Garegga a try after seeing it in first place on the most recent top 25 shmups post. I tried Ketsui that same day, expecting Ketsui to be much better. I was wrong.

Re: Raizing Shooting Collection
Embarrassed to say I very recently spent $250 on Battle Garegga for the Saturn. So, yes, I would welcome with open arms a new collection for HD tvs.

I wish I had the kind of money to drop on an import Saturn and all the good games.
Too bad I already spent it on a 360 and all the good games.

Brave Blade was a disappointing finish to Raizing's career.Jeneki wrote:Battle collection, Mahou collection, and sure toss in the others too. I've yet to be disappointed with a Raizing shooter.

Re: Raizing Shooting Collection
After all the hate I've heard about Brave blade, I was totally blown away by how good it is. Is it the PS1-style graphics? The pcb runs at a nice framerate so honestly I wouldn't hold graphics against it. Or the medal juggling? That's a taste thing, so I wouldn't hold it against anyone if that's not their preference.
The gameplay reminds me a lot of Dragon Blaze; Point-blank destroy stuff before it has a chance to become dangerous. Which is also helpful for hacking medals up to 100k. Lots of fun risk/reward stuff going on. And of course, flying swords that transform into mechs, whooooo!

Re: Raizing Shooting Collection
Nothing against 32-bit polygons in general, but Brave Blade's graphics and sounds are undeniably poor by the standards of late-generation PS1 games. Medal juggling is an unsatisfying mechanic, the pacing is horribly disjointed, stage design is consistently slapdash, and enemy/boss designs aren't anywhere near up to par with Garegga/Batrider/Bakraid in creativity or challenge.
The development team mostly consisted of rookies who were not involved with previous Raizing STGs, and it shows.

Re: Raizing Shooting Collection
If Brave Blade was the worst game a bunch of rookies could come up with, that definitely says a lot about the quality of Raizing games.
I Love it, the game rocks, and I have fun every time I toss it in. Will play again.

All you need is a normal Saturn and an Action Replay cartridge (unlocks the region), still easily available on eBay and a fraction of the cost of an import job!Special World wrote:I wish I had the kind of money to drop on an import Saturn and all the good games.
