Aliens Vs Predator 3 (PC FPS)

Post by ST Dragon »

Anyone have any info on Aliens Vs Predator 3 PC?
Is any company developing it?

It's been 4 long years since part 2 was released & I want to fry more Alien's ass! :D
The story line, gameplay & atmosphere were fantastic in AVP2. (Part 1 sucked imo)

Part 3 would look absolutely awesome with the new Doom 3 engine!

Personally I would prefer this or a new Heretic/Hexen to Quake 4 & such... any day.
But since Raven is behind the development of Quake 4, I could be mistaken...

I haven't heard anything, but I thought the first one was way better and much creepier than part two. I love Monolith and all (NOLF is still my favorite FPS for single-player), but they need to bring the original dev team back.

I never could play AVP1 when it came out, as I found it would losen my bowl movements it was that scary

I played the AVP2 Demo when it came out and form what I played didn't have the atmosphere of it's prequel.

I'm still waiting for the real sequel to Deus Ex

It's using the LithTech 2.5 3D engine.

When was it released?

According to the site, late Fall 2000.
The radio said, "No, John. You are the demons."
And then, John was a zombie.

AVP 1 before the quicksave patch was the most brilliant fps game on the pc and probably still is. Some of the best stuff we learnt from goldeneye about mission structure and gameplay applied to a brilliant game

I thought AVP2 did a good job. It freaked me out in quit a few area's of the game.

The main problem with AvP2's atmosphere for me was just the fact that it was running on the Lithtech engine, which wasn't nearly as well suited for all that darkness as the original AvP engine was. Also, because of the way they did they human characters in AvP2, using the eye movement features of the engine, they looked goofy.... actually they looked like the humans in NOLF, except the characters made sense in that game because they were supposed to be goofy.

I loved the original AvP back in the day. Rebellion did such a great job making the atmosphere so gritty, scary and dark. I unfortunately did not play more than a demo of Monolith's AvP2 which as others already said, just did not capture the mood of the first.

That said, I wish someone (preferrably Rebellion) would just make an Alien vs Marines game with nothing but intense, non stop marine missions. The Alien and Predator modes while well done are still mainly novelties.

I dunno, I like predator mode. Nothing like sneaking up on some marines and taking 'em out with the wristblades.

I liked all modes equally. They all offered their thrills & surprises, but the scariest is arguably the human campaign. As an Alien or Predator you don't have to worry as much as you can easily kill any opponent with just a couple of strikes. Plus you can see in the dark.
