Raiden figthers 1, reprogram to Raiden fighters 2 ?!

Post by caincan »

:!: something still in mind.. there is apparently 2 different motherboards for Seibu. i dont remember where i saw the info, one is 25mhz for most games. the other would be a 33mhz (is required for Raiden fighters jet)

well... there are 8 eproms on a Raiden fighters 1 cartridge... does anyone succeeded reprogram them to fit a Raiden fighters II set ?! is it compatible ? or a code is protected somewhere else (as in cps2 stuff...).

the thing is.. roms in mame are labelled differently.. we see 1 to 8 in a raiden fighters 1,

but none 1 to 8 in raiden fighters II, some "gdXXX" . i have feeling that some people did a reprogram but the question seems.. what are the good choices of roms to reprogram :? . (feeling came comforted that i saw one time a sale of the RF1 set roms... but the seller vanished to my questions..)

The 33MHz myth doesn't seem to be based in reality.

Most SPI games you'll encounter have either old or new style motherboards; the main differences are size and apparently worse graphical output on the small version. (There's also the all-in-one motherboard versions, and there may be some variants of these too.)

Any Seibu SPI motherboard should be able to run any SPI game cartridge, so long as the regions match. If you have a RF2 cartridge, and a SPI motherboard from the same region, you should be able to run the update process and be set to play.

As far as swapping out ROMs on a game cartridge, that's less along the lines of rescuing a broken game and more like asking how to make a bootleg.
