I'm going from Sega Master System -> Framemeister -> to Elgato. I get audio but no picture. The picture is not getting to the framemeister as it passes audio but shows a blue screen with the words "No Input". Occasionally for a brief moment I'll get picture, but it'll be distorted. The distortion is similar to the kind you get when you have bad antenna reception. I have the SMS outputting RGB over SCART to the Framemeister's RGB in via the SCART to DIN adapter. I'm not using the bundled adapter for JP-21. I bought the euroscart version from retrogamingcables.com. I thought one of the cables could be the culprit, but after some testing I'm not so sure. The SMS RGB cable works fine when hooked up to my Sony PVM. I tested the SCART to DIN adapter pin by pin for continuity and to make sure the right pins on each end are connected and everything seems fine.
I tested this setup with the N64 and the Sega Genesis and both work fine. I haven't tested other consoles yet. What could be different about the SMS output?

Have you tried to adjust the sync level setting? May need to increase it from the default setting of 9.

You have to check if the grounds actually connect in both your cables. If the Scart to MiniDin adapter expects GND on a certain pin, while the RGB cables delivers GND on another pin, this exact thing happens.
If grounds DO connect and sync level doesn't fix it either you need a stripper.

Checked the grounds and they look ok, except for one pin that I don't think is used. I upped the sync level to 15 and the picture comes through now.
Can you explain what the sync level setting does? Is it setting a threshold level? Or is it setting how much gain is applied to the signal? Is there any disadvantage to having too high of a sync level? By which I mean, why not just leave everything on max sync level?

Sync level setting of 16 seems to work best. Is there any english documentation that describes what each menu setting does?
The closest I've found is this: http://junkerhq.net/xrgb/index.php/XRGB ... AMEMEISTER
But it's not exhaustive.
