I recently built up a(nother) TV computer, and nicely enough, the CPU with integrated graphics has enough juice to run PCSX2 full speed.
The previous generation of consoles has spoiled me with wireless controllers. Is there a suitable wireless controller I can use on PC (Xbox 360 compatibility would be a bonus) that doesn't have a D-pad that is absolute shit?
Here are the things I have tried:
Xbox 360 official wireless controller w/ receiver - the diagonal bias on the D-pad absolutely kills it. Here I am trying to play some Contra, and I want to duck. So I press down, and it makes me duck and face in the opposite direction that I wanted to shoot. Then I died, and lost all the rest of my lives in the next 15 seconds from overly sensitive diagonals, like shooting up into the air while running when I wanted to shoot forward while running.
DualShock 3 w/ MotionInJoy drivers via Bluetooth: Believe it or not, this is a layout that I like - it is comfortable and I have no real complaints about the D-pad - however there is noticeable input lag. Deal-breaker again.
Steelseries Free Mobile wireless controller (Bluetooth): Lacks extra shoulder buttons, but it doesn't matter because the controller lags and completely drops inputs quite frequently. Utter garbage.
Hip Gear wireless PS2 pad w/ USB adapter: so far this is doing OK, the D-pad is a little on the sensitive side for diagonals, but nowhere nearly as bad as the Xbox 360 pad. Comfort isn't as good as an official DualShock.
What else can I do for wireless options that don't suck and don't lag? I have just ordered an Evil Controllers kit for the 360 pad, although I would like to have something with a connected D-pad.

I never liked the motionjoy driver, have you tried the scarlet crush SCP driver?
It basically installs a custom bluetooth driver to replace your standard bluetooth driver
(which won't work with regular bluetooth devices anymore) and lets you connect up to 4 dualshocks at once.
I think the reason for this is that the standard bluetooth stack has too much latency.

That was the first thing I tried with the DS3 - unfortunately I have two BT adapters - one isn't on the compatibility list and the driver would not even force install, and the other one is on the compatibility list but I think it is an older chipset that isn't fully supported, so it still wouldn't work. Curiously that same adapter works with the MotionInJoy driver, so I don't know why SCP didn't like it.alamone wrote:have you tried the scarlet crush SCP driver?
I will be trying this again if I get a newer BT adapter later on.

I also had problems with my bluetooth driver hardware not being detected during the install, even with force install.
I used the zadig tool to overwrite my bluetooth driver and it worked fine. The process is a little clunky but basically, open zadig,
load the ds3bluetooth device profile, select "show all devices" on the drop down menu, select your bluetooth device, and then click the update driver button.

If it's anything like some other bluetooth drivers I have installed before, it may be possible to manually add your device to the list of supported ones. Poke around the files and see if you can find anything like that, or see if someone else has done it with the same ones.

So two votes for DS3 + SCP? How do you find the input lag, if there is any?
I looked into some other options, and it seems like Mayflash makes USB receiver dongles for DualShock3 and WiiU Pro controllers. Any experience with those?
