Sony PVM-2950Q question
So after tating my PVM-2530 and returning to its normal horizontal position, it stopped working
I'm going to check out and test a PVM 2950Q tomorrow and need some advice. Would I be able to test the monitor with a BNC to component cable? it is the only cable with BNC connector that I have on hand at the moment. Also, I have read that to display RGB I will need a BNC RGB scart cable with the sync stripper built in. Are there anyone who sells the cable besides retro gaming cables? Also, does the 2950Q have any problems with it being tated? I'm thinking of leaving it permanently in the tated positon. Thanks in advance for the help.

Re: Sony PVM-2950Q question
PVM-2590Q or PVM-2950Q?
For the tate question - I dunno, I'd just look in the back to make sure stuff is supported and that there's adequate ventilation.
Moving sets definitely brings the opportunity to put stress on the set, though I don't know if these sets are really well made for extended time sideways. But I'd leave it sideways for extended periods if I was gaming with it that way.
About the BNC to component cable, you will need RGB inputs and an RGB source, unless you plan to go YPbPr component. You'll need a fourth cable for sync in any event.

Re: Sony PVM-2950Q question
So as of today I'm the proud owner of a PVM 2950Q. The monitor was a bit dusty and had 2 tiny cracks in the plastic handle but after cleaning it up looks pretty good. Originally I was going to pass on it and wait for a BVM-20F1U after seeing the condition but the picture quality blew me away. Figured I'll just use this for my usual non tate setup and pick up a 201FU for my tate set up since it will be easier to rotate. The monitor did not come with its original power plug so what kind of volts, amps, or specifications should I be looking for in the replacement power plug?

Some of those supposedly have fewer amps than others, but I wouldn't sweat it. I'd be more concerned about the home power supply, though this is a 480i tube so that's probably well under control.
BTW, I'd look inside the chassis for other signs of damage.
