"Bydo Is..." (stage F-A)'s my favourite of Final's darker stuff. So bleak. :o

The Bydo are a man-made nightmare

Hands down the best shmup remix that I've ever listened to, can someone find better?

Was expecting black_man.txt again.

Agree though. R-Type Final might be sadly glacial, but the atmopshere in the end game is gorgeously dark. Not the best game by far, but that last stage will always be one of my favorite gaming moments.

Got a few more to post here.

Triggerheart Exelica stage 1. Unfortunately, I prefer the 360 arraged music better, but I can't find it on yt.

Also, here's the music from Titan 47-88 (Stage 3-1) in Sturmwind.

And finally Heating Wave from Fantasy Zone II system-16 version

Not sure if Sin & Punishment should be classified as a shmup but I've been really into this soundtrack lately.

Killer song for a killer boss. Wicked as hell watching Anareta go supernova as the beat fades out and the synth strings swell.

Eliminate Down is kinda fuckinamazing as a whole, but musically my favourite bit is stage 5's suitably morbid atonal morass. You're in some kinda horrible alien corpse mulcher with two REALLY MEAN, INDESTRUCTIBLE METAL MOTHERFUCKERS, just trying to squeeze through... WTF sort of infiltration is thi- actually no, it makes sense!

...and then once you're out, and in even less hospitable surroundings, the perfectly timed power slide into comically violent METAL FISTING METAL.

That segment used to be my favorite too, but it grew too repetitive and washed out of my brain after a short time.

My own fave is the first stage, it really gets you pumping.

Also thats four PISSED OFF, UNRELENTING ARMORED BASTARDS.

I like to think they go back to their macabre business after your piffling little scratchings, only to resurface with brand new surface-mounted weaponry. Scarier that way.

Shame that... thing at the start of st6 doesn't have suitably unspeakable BGM. Fucker looks like someone's diseased prostate gone rogue. edit: on second thoughts, the "wreeeowwww" static wail is pretty spot-on. You know a MD soundtrack has balls when it deliberately harnesses that clangy sound lesser OSTs spend their whole duration bumbling around in.

The more I think about it, the more I realize that Eliminate down's soundtrack value is less in the raw quality(still great quality) and more in the fact that almost every track really fits what is happening in the game.

Oh absolutely. The midboss BGM is nothing special musically, but in context with a harpoon-chucking eyeball barging onscreen it's a sonic FUCK OFF LOSER Gradius II's smack-talking bosses can't hope to match.

Stylistically I like to think of ED as TFIV's uglier, meaner doppleganger.

Space Megaforce / Super Aleste - Space Cruiser https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=khUdQzg ... n&index=10

This might have been posted but I've just now gotten around to playing this amazing game. This track is my favorite in the game, and truly fits the stage theme where you have to destroy Earth's fleet which has been taken over by the aliens and is being used against you.

I give you my 2 favorite shump tunes. So many posted that are good, but a lot of people forget Battle Bakraid had a great soundtrack.
Following Wind - Naval Base
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H6kvP0h0g9M

and I give you my favorite arrangement from a shmup soundtrack.
The Toward A Mistake arrange by satoru kousaki from the Under Defeat Extended Tracks OST is quite good. Jazzy style from the otherwise crazy rock soundtrack.

A few that have been going through my head recently:

Under Defeat - Way Back that was Shut
This one really syncs well with the chaotic action on stage, I think. Also the bassline is nice

Boss theme from Triggerheart Exelica
This time it's actually the X360 arrange version, but it's the only track I can find on yt from the X360 arrange

I'm sure Gleylancer was mentioned here before, maybe even by me lol, but a playlist checkup reveals that I certainly never posted the stage 3/4/5 themes.

Been playing stuff on Taito Legends 2, and digging G-Darius and Raystorm's music.

Raystorm: Origin, Aquarium

G-Darius: Network, Kimera II, Biophotron

G-Darius' music in general is really unique, and tracks like Network are just downright beautiful.

PS: I'm sad that I can only find one song from Mystic Riders on YouTube.

G-Darius is probably my favourite OST of the entire Zuntata canon. Simply on texture and arrangement it's marvelous, melding heavenly chorus, abyssal murmurs and industrial cacophony into vast alien soundscapes, then channeling them through ultra-lean bursts of inescapable OGR weirdpop. It's a hell of an album, hugely evocative yet graciously concise. Makes sense it's a shooter OST.

"Probably" only because ZTT is a hydra of first-rate BGM. Been listening to Night Striker and The Ninja Warriors OSTs recently, myself.

Also really liking this fan-made arrangement of Metal Orange's first stage BGM, modeled on Tecno Soft's TFIII sound driver. All about the kick drum.

You try to make an epic theme but think of a cheerful dance midway, and you get the Gaiares stage 1 theme

And here's a remix I think is actually better than the original

Divided By Zero, one of the few boss BGMs comparable to Stab And Stomp for remorselessly driven electronic thrash. I prefer the Batrider ver to the Shippu Mahou original for the mobile demolition unit rhythm section.

And for something completely different but still heavy as hell and Raizing boss-related, Parapsychology from Bakraid. One of my early shumpin' music gateway drugs, still holds up mightily.

The other two boss themes from Battle Bakraid have been posted already, it'd be a shame if we left out Crisis - Ground/Marine boss theme (Cyclops, Leviathan, Bahamut, Golem). I like the rhythm to this one, it goes nicely with the bombing, suicides, and chain sound effects, similar to the Desert theme which I linked earlier. It also helps that the bosses this theme goes with are some of the more fun ones in the game.

Terrible Object is the better theme if you ask me.

It reminds me of blast wind too.

Great Mahou Daisakusen has a pretty awesome soundtrack. Here's the stage 6 theme.
