Issue with madcatz 360 fightstick

Awhile back I got a $120 fightstick for my 360; however now it seems to have a problem where holding down the guide button will turn on my console, but the controller won't be detected once the console boots up unless I unplug the stick and put it back in. Is this a hardware problem, or a 360 glitch?

I have had this issue with my older TEs when hooked up through a hub, very annoying.
