Sony PVM-20S1Wu not accepting S-video signal

Hey guys longtime lurker on the forums and was finally convinced to pick up a Sony PVM-20S1WU for my PS! and PS2. However I havent had a chance to order the european Scart cable and scart to RGB cables from retrogamingcables.com. ( that is what I need correct? US PS1 & 2 are compatible with a euro scart cable?) But, back on topic I have hooked up my systems with an s-video cable directly into the monitor and when I switch to the s-video input my picture is jumping around. Does it need to sync somehow? or is there a setting I'm missing? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try poking the rectangular hole on the s-video socket, there might be a hidden switch inside to turn the socket on or off.

There is no rectangular hole just an s-video slot... unless I'm issing it but i doubt it.

Naw brother there is no switch inside that slot on the back i just double checked, it appears to be a standard s-video slot. hmmm... Idk whats up with this thing and I even tried another S-video cable and even ran a SNES to it and still no dice.

edit: I'm giving up on s-video so all i need is a euro scart cable and a euro scart to bnc adapter and I'm in RGB goodness correct? even though I have an NTSC PS1 and PS2? and the cable can be swapped from either system?
