Level-Editor Developer required for Megadrive Shmup Project

Post by MintyTheCat »

Hello all,

I am part of a group developing a Shmup for the SEGA Megadrive.

We have Developers working on the Gamecode, Tools, Artists and we lack Musicians/Sound Programmers and also someone to develop the GUI Level-Editor.

We are using an FPGA based development system that allows us to interrogate the Megadrive as it executes.

I'd be interested in working with an experienced GUI Developer who has experience using QT and/or wxWidgets. We want this to be a Cross-Platform Application ideally but it must be used under Linux at the very least.

Please PM me with your questions or reply to this Thread.

Cheers,

Minty.

To clarify here: the Level-Editor is written in C and runs from the Command-Line. However, we wanted to have it wrapped up in a nice GUI to be easy to use for Level-Designers. As such, I am not expecting the GUI Developer to make all the decisions about the Level Data, etc as that's pretty much done.

Also, do not be put off when I mention 'FPGA' or 'CPLD' - that's part of the Development System that we use to Trace the Game's execution on the Megadrive and we merely communicate with it over USB so just think of that as a piece of Hardware that you can talk to. Again, the USB side is already sorted out so we really just want to have a nice, well designed GUI to help Level-Designers accomplish the task of designing Levels :)

I thought to myself that there would be substantially more GUI Developers these days compared to Embedded/Real-Time Developers.

If not the Shmups' Development Section of the Forum where might an Embedded Developer find experienced GUI Developers with a keen interest in Shmups? :D

Cheers.

Well done! I'm also working on a MEGA DRIVE project, by my friend M-471. My contribution is draw the graphics and test gameplay.

We can share some know-how!

Good to see that there are others

Game-Testing is really important; we'll be asking for Testers in the future too.

I am involved in a number of Megadrive related Projects:

AXLib, MD-Util and UMDK.

I am looking at adding sound and MIDI support to the Megadrive.

I do not mind helping you blokes with your problem solving and software for the Megadrive. Let's continue this discussion over Skype.

I will be away for a few days if I we have no chance to discuss before tomorrow.

Cheers.
