Shinybow SB-5525 + Sega CDX = Compatible?

Post by helmeto »

Hey guys. I am thinking about buying a Shinybow SB-5525 Scart Switch but I am concerned about its compatibility with the Sega CDX.

Does anyone have any experience with this or know if the screen would wobble or display other ailments?

I read this article on switchers in Video Game Perfection and noticed instability and/or wobble added for Sega Megadrive...I was planning on using the Retron 5 instead of the Megadrive so that didn't really bother me...but I was worried that this switcher would act the same way towards the Sega CDX.

Does anyone know? Any info is much appreciated!

Here would be my set up

Sega CDX --> Shinybow --> XRGB Framemeister --> HDTV

Thanks!

If it wobbles while you play Megadrive games, it's not going to magically stop when go go play a CD game.

The question is about whether the CDX hardware is different from other Mega Drives in this regard.

Probably the answer is the same - the CDX's video output should be substantially the same, I guess.

Thanks for the info guys! I guess I'll continue my search for a Keene Scart Commander.

I'd be willing to bet that the picture wobble was an installation specific ground loop issue. I suspect that others wouldn't have this problem.

Is this site down for anyone else or is it just me? Have been trying to find one for weeks, no luck as yet.
