List of PS1 Arcade ports?
List of PS1 Arcade ports?
Hello, can someone give me a complete list of PS1 Arcade ports? I know the console has a bunch of them, many which weren't even released outside Japan.
It's just that I love those games, so I'd like to know. They don't need to be only shmups, they just need to be Arcade games. By that I mean stuff like the ones found on Capcom Generations or Namco Museum series, etc.

Taito did plan a port of Chaos Heat but that was cancelled.

Console (Saturn and PSX) exclusive rather than port, but Sonic Wings Special deserves a mention as the only (known to me) non-port featuring fully fledged tate mode. Sonic Wings Limited, according to Wikipedia, is supposed to be a port of the console game.

No Captain Commando love??
What a shame caus if I am not mistaken is the only console port apart of the ripped sfamicom one.
Saturn and PStation have one of the largest arcade ports to date. I think that almost all the arcades from that time were ported to either system so basically you have a big amount of titles to choose from.

Re: List of PS1 Arcade ports?
I read somewhere around here that Starfighter Sanvein was meant to be a coin-op game; since I haven't heard of even a prototype PCB, I can't rightfully call the PSX game a port, but the story sounds credible.
Gauntlet Legends (but I suppose Gauntlet Dark Legacy renders it obsolete).

Re: List of PS1 Arcade ports?
have you played it ? I always assumed that the games in collection were based on the NES versions. I can't find any confirmation though, but the screenshots on the back suggest it (plain blue background on Rod Land, while the arcade version was very colorful).-Jaleco Collection Vol.1 (Rod land !) (PS1 only)
Re: List of PS1 Arcade ports?
I would say the port itself renders it obsolete since it's one of the weaker ports of the game. If I remember correctly, the DC port of Legends has the extra classes used in Dark Legacy.Obiwanshinobi wrote: Gauntlet Legends (but I suppose Gauntlet Dark Legacy renders it obsolete)

Re: List of PS1 Arcade ports?
Dark Legacy has got the "Robotron" controls mode (left analogue stick for movement, right one for attacking), that made it the most "next gen" console TPP action game since Apocalypse.

Re: Jaleco Collection
NES/FC version. I own it and the games are FC versions, just like the Sunsoft Memorial collections, nonetheless it is nice to have some Famicom games on the Playstation.Fudoh wrote:have you played it ? Yep, Success Corp. had two G-Net games in development by the names Psyvariar Medium Unit & Starfighter Sanvein. The JPN PS1 version of Sanvien has the joystick controls shown on-screen during a demo run. Ultimately, Success gave Psy-MU the "green light" as a dedicated Taito G-Card cartridge release running on the slick Taito G-Net arcade platform back in March of 2000 (whilst Sanvein was released as a PS1 port).Obiwanshinobi wrote:I read somewhere around here that Starfighter Sanvein was meant to be a coin-op game; since I haven't heard of even a prototype PCB, I can't rightfully call the PSX game a port, but the story sounds credible.

It would've been interesting to see Sanvein as a proper G-Card release back in 2000 at the Japanese game centers but it wasn't meant to be.

Re: List of PS1 Arcade ports?
Huh, that's an interesting story. Seeing Sanvein in the arcade seems like it'd be pretty weird though, it's always seemed a little too sloppy to be an arcade title. Maybe that's why it didn't get an arcade release. I still love the crap out of the game though.PC Engine Fan X! wrote: Yep, Success Corp. had two G-Net games in development by the names Psyvariar Medium Unit & Starfighter Sanvein. Re: List of PS1 Arcade ports?
What's odd about that PS1 import title by the name of Sen K Yuu (aka Battle Balls in the USA from arcade distributor Fabtek back in 1995), I was hoping that a proper PS1 release stateside would be possible but that never happened. Had to break down and get the Seibu Kaihatsu SP1 version of Battle Balls to play it properly as it was meant to be. The local Electric Underground arcade hangout based out of Modesto, CA, did have a copy of BB to play and was priced at a mere four nickels per credit back in 1995. It was one of those cool arcade puzzlers worthy of your time back in the day.
More PS1 Sanvien Factoids: I've yet to see such a cool countdown timer top Sanvien's on the modern-day arcade games these days. Also, Tetsuro Sato (aka Wasi303) did most of the cool BGM tunes used in Sanvien as well -- some of the music tracks have that unmistakable Psyvariar-ish vibe going on considering that he did most of the cool BGM tunes on Psyvivar Medium Unit, Psyvariar Revision and Psyvariar 2: The Will to Fabricate as well.
Makes me wonder if a proper Psyvariar 3 sequel from the likes of Success Corp. and Skonec will ever happen? Surely, a new game mechanic added to the overall "Buzz system" could be implemented and give the Psyvariar series a fresh new outlook on life. But what current arcade platform could it be developed for and released on, would be the real pressing question at hand.

Re: List of PS1 Arcade ports?
IIRC there's a demo of Senkyu on certain copies of Raiden DX for PS1.
While I'm in here, not sure if the various DDR editions would count as "arcade ports" but I don't think they've been mentioned yet.

Re: List of PS1 Arcade ports?
Yep. To be precise the original print contains the demo. Hamster's budget reprint is missing it.BulletMagnet wrote:IIRC there's a demo of Senkyu on certain copies of Raiden DX for PS1.
Worth noting that Tenchi wo Kurau II / Warriors of Fate is a little better on Saturn. The PS1 version has mid-level loading times.

Check "Power Excavator" instead, not sure it's exactly the same game but chances are they're related.
