RF2 saving data issues on Seibu SP1

Post by parism »

Hi guys,

I got my RF2 cart and SP1 motherboard and plays great. I have selected to save high scores in the TEST menu but it erases the scores on rebooting. The battery keeps the time fine otherwise.

I am wondering if the option to save the high score is different to the one in RF (where it retains it on rebooting). If it makes a difference, I am running my RF2 cart on the smaller SP1 SXX2D board.

I normally wouldn't mind, but it is a little annoying since I've had some pretty good runs over the weekend only to see my scores erased (!).

Thanks!

I'd just take a high-res pic to save it for posterity for your personal RF2 score runs if the High Score functionality isn't working on said SP1 mobo setup. Sure, I've got both USA & JPN region SP1 mobos for my mixture of USA & JPN region SP1 carts.

When you go into the test menu, is the Game settings -> Score keeping setting set to "on?" (Worth a double check in case of errors, since it's easy to change things.)

Thanks, I had checked the save option in the test menu and its is fine...

I had the game running for a while this morning and I figured the problem out: the game does not save the "Today's High Score" table. However, it DOES save two things:

1) the "Masters of Ships" information, where the highest score for each ship is displayed.

and

2) the percentage of time each ship has been used (since the last NVRAM reset in the test menu).

So, this info is retained even after power down for sure (since the highest score on the Raiden Mk II displayed this morning was done a few days ago).

So, problem sorted, thanks guys...

Glad to hear you're sorted! Yep, it would be strange indeed for Seibu to waste money on an expensive (and, back then, not so durable for repeated writes) flash chip just to store the day's highscores.
