Howdy all. I just joined up by recommendation by this cool guy named Jesse from Portland who works at video game wizards. There's a ps1 sh'mup I'm interested in called Meta-Ph-List Gamma X 2297.
Anyone here ever heard of it? I've only seen a couple of screen shots and I think a cover art.. No footage or anything else. I hear it's like Radiant Silvergun.
Can someone here help? Perhaps post pics or a video. I might consider buying it.

Never heard of it, but there were some impressions here way back in 2007:

^ (vid towards the bottom) you've probably seen this one but...
If it suits your humour sure you'll probably get into it - but I can't see the actual game getting too much replay or repeat visits unless it really is your niche .... personally I found it more irritating; though, to give it credit, it was trying to do something different. IMHO your money may be put to better use unless it's really your thing.
It is not the ps1 answer to radiant silvergun that's for sure
Perhaps if you're looking a something different try investigating the psyvariar series?

I never understood why people refer to this game with Gamma in the title.
It's clearly a Mu.

Blame GameFAQs for that:

I sent them a report with a title correction (even the date's wrong in the title!).

Looks like I have some updating to do...Kollision wrote:I never understood why people refer to this game with Gamma in the title.![]()

As for the game itself, it's a weird one, as you might have suspected, but not much like RSG...I never did completely figure it out, it seems there are some manner of conditions you need to meet in order to move on at certain points, and since I don't read Japanese I'll probably never know. You can replay stages so it's possible to stumble onto progress, but it's a bit of a rough go unless you understand what's going on, and the rest of the game isn't spectacular enough to justify playing for its own sake. A decent curio, but definitely not my first recommendation for the system.

Wow this one is quite the rascal huh? I'll still try to check it out at some point, but it's not a priority at the moment. I'm just excited for now about the three new dreamcast shmups coming out soon. I'm sure you all know what I'm talking about. I have them reserved and am just waiting...
