Power Up - Shooter looks to Steam for Greenlight votes.

Post by Sier »

Essential reading for those following the progress of Power Up,
Psychotic Psoftware's excellent 2013 XBLIG indie shooter, courtesy of - one man army - Mike Hanson.

Mike's inaugural title is now up on Steam looking for Greenlight votes.

Lengthy reading, but it's clear to see a lot of heart went into this game, and of course such indie devs
are always well worthy of support.

Here's the press release with all details:
Hi guys,

Mike here from Psychotic Psoftware, just letting my favourite press-related people know that Power-Up, my one-man game for Xbox, has finally been submitted to the Steam Greenlight process and in less than a week, has already got itself over a quarter of the votes it needs to breach the top 100!

Not a bad start at all, but you know me. Not one to rest on my laurels, and I won't relax until Power-Up is safely nestled into that top 100 and all but guaranteed a release in the next batch of indie games to hit the platform!...

SO, with that in mind, I thought I'd drop you, my favourite, most supportive and influencial voices of the indie gaming press a line. In a nutshell, I need your help! For the most part you guys have already played Power-up... some on the Xbox 360 version that's out there now, while some of you were backers of the Kickstarter and have even bagged an early copy of the PC version, so you know the game and have your opinions on it... and hopefully, as the vast majority of reviews seem to reflect, my first little one-man offering went down pretty well.

If you liked Power-Up and would like to see it reach the PC platform in a meaningful way that could actually fund the creation of more of my little one-man games (through Steam, I mean), I need you to shout from the rooftops about my Steam Greenlight campaign and to help bring traffic to my Greenlight page in the form of excited Steam account holders, just dying to hit that "yes" button.

Obviously, you're welcome to use any means at your disposal. I'd also be more than happy to do any text based interviews, pre-recorded video interviews (though live ones play merry hell with my working schedule) and according to my Steam T's & C's, I might even have a few free Power-Up codes to give away on the proviso that the game gets a Steam launch.

Obviously, said codes come on a first-come, first-served basis, so if you'd like to secure a few of these, the sooner you get in touch, the better! :D

Oh and as for let's-play videos, I've made a statement on my site that basically says go for it!

Thanks again for all the support in 2013 guys. Hopefully we can continue a mutually beneficial and generally ace working relationship through 2014 too. Looking forward to hearing from you on this.

Hope you had a brill Christmas and got everything you wanted!
All the best for the new year,

Mike
