UK Northern Shmuppers. Mill Hill has Gigawing 2!

Post by Leeram »

Just thought I'd let you know. I've visited Mill Hill amusements in Leeds loads of times but never fancied any of the games. Anyway, I heard a rumour that they had closed down, so I went and checked it out this week when I was in Leeds and they are well and truly open.

I noticed the "new videos" sign inside and went and took a look, there before me was a brand spanking new Gigawing 2. OK, not the most modern of games, and ok, it's available on consoles. But any shmup in any UK arcade has to be a bonus. Let's face it, even finding an arcade in the UK is a bit of a bonus!

Get your arses over there, stick some money in.. maybe they might get more!

Mill Hill, Leeds, 1 minute from the train station (turn right at the City Square exit and follow the road around to your right, Mill Hill is on your left as you walk towards the railway bridge).

Cheers

I would have been in Leeds this week for the festival but I couldnt get a ticket. :(

There's not many good arcades around here, despite it being a seaside resort. The last shmup I saw in the arcades here was Life Force in the mid 90s. Now they're all full of fruit machines.

Excellent, I'll have to check that out some time. All the good stuff seems to be down South - dedicated shooter arcades, etc. I don't think we have an arcade of any description in Liverpool!

I'm pretty sure there isn't, although I havnt been into town for ages. Southport sucks ass for arcades.

I'm in Middlesbrough and I don't know of any arcades in Boro, Newcastle Sunderland or anywhere inbetween, except bowling allies and picture houses which charge a quid a go for stuff I don't want to play. Mill HIll is the only one I know.

There is an arcade warehouse nearby Leeds and I think they have a pub with some retro games, I've never been though. www.arcadewarehouse.com

I still have plans to build my own arcade...

Cheers

Are there any arcades left in Manchester? When I was a teen I used to visit two of them, can't rememebr what they're called really, Starburst I think was one of them. I used to go especially to play Salamander and Side Arms. I'm from Bolton so I used to visit every week.

I sometimes visit Manchester so it'd be good to know if there are any 'cades in the centre.

I also used to go to Johnny Flips in Wigan (King Street Amusements) but they shut ages ago.

Cheers

i lived in manchester for three years and found no shmups. the only cab of credit in all of the manchester piccadilly area is a sf3:ts machine stored in the back of an arcade usually surrounded by oriental people who kick my ass :)

They've got Guilty Gear XX there too, and I don't know of anywhere else around here with anything good now. :(

There's an R-Type Leo in Affleck's Palace on the first floor (along with Wonderboy and a couple of pinball machines - there's also Pac-Man on the second floor near the stairs)
