I had a pretty cool shmup dream last night--here's what I remember:
I was playing Last Resort...it was better than it really is in reality
graphics were more detailed.....had an R-Type beam weapon blast.
gameplay was much more fun. .... I remember fighting I boss on the first level, the neon neo-city level.... the boss was a giant version of the ship you control in the real Last Resort.....it was very detailed....large....not as large as the multi-screen Battleship in R-Type but took up about 1/3 of the screen.... had to kill it using only beam weapon blasts, I died a few times...I remember I could see all the detail in the boss, the detail that IREM was noted for from In The Hunt and Nazca in Metal Slug.
that's about it.....

I had a shmup dream last night too! basically I was in some mall and I noticed some shmups at the arcade, one was Aero Fighters 2 and then I noticed that the aracade was selling cabs! I found a Galaga cab that I needed to have... after trying to haggle with the owner for a while, I decided to just take the damn thing when he wasn't looking...
next thing I know I'm lugging this Galaga cab around the mall looking for my family!
At some point in the dream I was mentally traped inside a game that resembled a shmup but it was creepy and very un-enjoyable, kinda like being trapped underground fending off insects and what-not... so I willed myself back to the regular dream state. I ended up at a EB games, but realised that it had been converted to a "EBS games" (S as in sports), and the store was filled with sporting goods and sports games!!!
After a quick dialogue with the manager (who is that actualy manager of the local EB), he was excited about how the store had transformed into a business that would succeed because it didn't have any niche titles, only sports games!
I'd say mine is weirder...
