On this webpage http://www.hardcoregaming101.net/gunfro ... ontier.htm it says "Additionally, some Japanese listings make mention of a Gun Frontier Extra Version. This is not publically available in any form and may not have been released, nor is there any information about what was different in this version."
Has anyone heard about this? Can the existence of such a game be confirmed?
Gun Frontier Extra Version?
Re: Gun Frontier Extra Version?
Well if Japan says it's so, it must be true? And law inforced with harshest penalty if going against Japan in any way when related to videogames. So you best better beileve it, mister. >_<
Anywho, all Darius Arcade games seem to have an "extra" version. This makes me hope for other Taito arcade STGs to have have extra versions too + dumped ASAP, of course.

Re: Gun Frontier Extra Version?
It's on this list of Taito games that haven't been dumped to MAME yet, but that's all I can find.
Re: Gun Frontier Extra Version?
I'd take that list with a grain of salt. It has an entry for "Yukiwo", which is just the working/development title of Master of Weapon.

Wow, I can't believe "ask and you shall recieve" actualy works?NTSC-J wrote:It's on this list of Taito games that haven't been dumped to MAME yet, but that's all I can find.

K, here are other shooters in that list (from 1885 & up);
Sky Destroyer
Van Allen belt
Wyvern F-0
Baigon
Lone Wolf
Twin Asuka
Yukiwo
Flying Attack
Hades
Side Effects
City divers
Outburst 4D
Noticed a few more names here... Well, ether way, never thought that there could still be way too many games that needed dumping in MAME. As in, more STGs to come!!

Re: Gun Frontier Extra Version?
Wyvern F-0 ain't gonna happen for a long time if ever. Guru's hoarding his board over some tissy with the Dumping Union guy and if what he says is true about the actual cost of the board there's no one else alive in the industry with the kind of money to buy it AND happens to be MAME-friendly.
Re: Gun Frontier Extra Version?
Can someone please confirm if that Metal Black listed here is indeed some extra version of some sort and not another region variation or something simple like that?
). Or worse yet. How many rare betas and what not get lost in a major disaster?! Why folks just got to get it out there and shared for maximum preservation ASAP, always. Don't know why folks don't think like this? I mean, having the original copy is still a very big thing as is.
That's crap. Well I hope buddy is at least bright enough to back it up soon at one point. Physical Hardware don't last forever. Or worse yet, what if something silly happens to him, like forbid that he may get run over by a car, then his parents or closest of kin see this in his possesions and go "what is this crap? Just put it by the side of the road for the garbage truck." I always think this when some rare beta/alpha rom holder is hording something all for himself (*sigh* right now I'm thinking of that Castlevania Bloodlines beta with that German Blimp level, like I always doBPzeBanshee wrote:Wyvern F-0 ain't gonna happen for a long time if ever. Re: Gun Frontier Extra Version?
Apparently it's a special version made for fun by one of the programmers. It's harder and has an extra stage.Sinful wrote:Can someone please confirm if that Metal Black listed here is indeed some extra version of some sort and not another region variation or something simple like that?

Extra difficulty and, and... EXTRA STAGE?!!!!

Thanks a ton, NTSC-J, you sure the man (ie. I really appreciate this). And you went the extra distance and provided me with that site.

Very interesting. I guess they made use of those fish during the high score screen in the extra stage. I imagine there's no ROM floating around so I wonder if footage or a release will ever occur.NTSC-J wrote:Apparently it's a special version made for fun by one of the programmers.
