Play 4 Charity - 'The Retro Ball' a UK charity games fest!

Post by ~Kid Icarus~ »

Hey everyone, I hope it's okay to plug this event on here!

On 3rd & 4th of December '05 there is going to be a retro gaming event taking place in the midlands to raise money for the charity Everyman. We've got people from loads of different UK retro sites, forums & shops bringing down games for people to play and we are trying to get the word out to get as many people down as possible.

Here's a link to the official site:

A list of confirmed exhibitors:

I'm posting this here because I'm organising a shmup stand for the event. We hope to have two MAME machines one with a vertical monitor for the likes of Galaga, Galaxian through Raiden and up to stuff like Dodonpachi/19xx. Then we will have everything from R-Type to Progear on the hori monitor. (With the metal slugs thrown in for good measure).

Other games will include Ikaruga, Shikigami No Shiro 2 & Gunbird all in TATE mode, Thunderforce IV, Gradius V, R-Type Delta, Super Probotector...maybe even some euro Amiga Shmups!

There will be a fighting game stand, a racing stand etc. and we have 16 cabs booked in already (including an original Daytona cab) and 6 pinball machines booked as well. There will also be stuff like link up Xbox Outrun 2, Four Swords on a massive projector, Halo 2 and tons more...

So all in all a chance to play tons of cool games, drink beer, meet like minded people & raise cash for charity. I'll post up more info when I have it and would love to hear any suggestions you guys might have!

Cheers for looking!

Ah, should have pointed that out. The money will go to 'Everyman' which carries out research and raises awareness about testicular cancer.

:)

Cheers!

Hey people just a quick bump for this topic, hope that's okay.

Several special guests have now been confirmed including The Oliver Brothers & Archer Maclaen. There is an interview in this month's Gamestm magazine with Chris the organiser as well as a 1 page ad for the event.

Please check out the link in my sig and feel free to ask me any questions you might have!!

Cheers

Mike
