Super Robot Wars recommendations..
About a month ago I got Super Robot Wars 3 on snes, and recently it has become one of my all-time favorites. I have since got SRW4 for snes, and SRW-A, SRW-D, SRW-R, and both SRW Original 1+2 for gba..I was wondering how good the ps1, ps2 and saturn versions are. Also, is there anywhere I can go to get a complete listing of the srw games? Thanks..
I played all except the N64 and GC ones.
Saturn's SRWF is my all-time fav. S.Famicom's SRWGaiden The Lord of Elemental is also highly recommended by mnay SRW fans too, it was one of the last S.Famicom title and it was one of the best 16 bit game too(IMO).
The difficulty in the 128 bit SRWs are suffered a huge tune down. Even though the animation is great(especially MX), I say you should try out those PS1 SRWs first.

Don't bother about the SS/PS SRW games. Just go get recent SRW games for the PS2, like SRW MX or SRW Alpha 3. It's just not worth your time seeing every battle animation without having the option to skip it. I find playing those older SRW series to be a chore.Bullet_Storm wrote:About a month ago I got Super Robot Wars 3 on snes, and recently it has become one of my all-time favorites. Besides, every battle sequence starting from MX onwards are fully animated. Which makes it nice to watch.

MX is a perfect example of "great graphic and zero gameplay" in today's gaming world.infested_ysy wrote: Don't bother about the SS/PS SRW games. I prefer those S.Famicom SRWs more. SRW4 and LoE are great games.

I personally dig the GBA games a whole helluva lot. I just preordered SRW J for gba today in fact.BrianC wrote:How are the GBA ones? I'm thinking of importing one of them. I have my SNES modded too, so I wouldn't mind getting one of the SFC ones either.
I thought SRW Alpha on DC was a port of the PS version??

MSZ -- can you recommend any of the PS/PS2 SRT games over any other ones? I see there's a new one out that's running the low discounted price of 7480 yen just about everywhere. Is it okay to just jump right in anywhere in the series?
I might just buy a few of them.

MX is quite easy so you can start there. If you plan to get @2, you may as well get the premium box with @, @ Gaiden, and @2 (if you can play JP PS1 games). You'll easily get weeks worth of game time with @3. To be honest, you'll probably get bored of the games unless you're a hardcore mecha fan. I love mecha but even I've got bored of the series since each installment takes more time than the average traditional RPG nowadays...
The GBA games are also easy but pretty good. The hardest SRW is still probably SRW4.
And there were no fully 2D console SRW games after the DC version of @.

Crud, so these new Alpha ones (2 and 3) are 3D? I saw Alpha Gaiden in a store, but figured I'd wait until I got some feedback. I should probably pick up some of the PS1 ones and maybe the Saturn one just for shits and giggles. I'll probably get more out of them.
I could've swarn there was some 2D versions on the PS2. Am I getting that old? If there aren't, I might as well get the new Gundam Seed game.... cell-shaded. Looks nice.
Either way, thanks.
