Been having trouble getting anything but a standard wired 360 controller working on my system. I've got 360 VS Fighting Pad, a Madcatz WWE Fight Pad, a modded Madcatz Arcade Stick, a Logitech controller, and (most importantly) a Mayflash Nintendo Classic Controller converter. All of them worked on my old Vista laptop, and none of them (save the standard 360 controller) work on my Windows 7 laptop. I've installed or tried to install all the necessary drivers. Nothing. I've struck out consulting the web, so I might as well ask for fixes here.
Here are the specs:
Windows 7 Home Premium
Model: Alienware M14XR2
Intel Core i7-3630QM CPU@2.4GHz
12 GB RAM
64 bit Operating System
NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M
Sound Blaster Recon3Di
Qualcomm Atheros Killer Wireless-N 1202
Any info would be much appreciated. Would love to play PC games with a proper d-pad.

Re: PC Controller Woes
Something similar happened to me. I fixed it by going to devices and printers, opening the configuration window for game controllers, clicked Advanced, then selecting the controller as the preferred device to use with older programs. I had used a PS2 controller with a USB adapter, and coudn't use my Saturn USB pad till then.
Don't hold grudges. GET EVEN.

Hopefully the above solution works. You system and OS are compatible it is just a matter of tinkering around to get your controller to be recognized and be working. Normally it works automatically if it is an Xbox 360 controller. There is pad re-mapping software like xpadder that is quite annoying which I've only had to use with Playstation controllers but it shouldn't come to that.

Re: PC Controller Woes
I've got a WWE Madcatz Stick. I had issues getting it to work on a PC until I did some research - apparently their drivers don't play nice with USB ports compared to standard Microsoft/Hori controllers. It'll work, but it needs to be the first USB device plugged into that set of USB ports. So if you're using a pair of USB ports at the front of the computer, unplug what's in 'em, plug the Madcatz Stick in, then plug back in your mouse, etc. This makes it a pain to swap around because if you ever have to unplug it, to use it again you need to unplug any nearby USB devices.

If your computer has a set of USB ports at the front and at the back, it seems to see those as separate sets of ports for the sake of this issue, so plug it into whatever has the fewest USB ports lined up for easiness' sake.

Re: PC Controller Woes
Found this thread that finally fixed the problem, at least w/ the VS Fightstick: http://forums.shoryuken.com/discussion/ ... fightstick
Now I just realized that I left my CCP adapter back at my folk's place. Dammit. Vs Controller will do handily, though.
