The world ends with you

Post by railslave »

Anybody else realy love this game ?

I really cant stand the NDS (wont let myself), but it surprised me how immersed i got into this world..

The J-pop added so much, i mean the fight music!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bmRxsz_FqAk

Really love how you use teen fashion to build add to your Characters stats...just so cool ...

Love the bad guys, there's a real sense of oppression in the cutscenes as you watch them planning what kid to knock off next.

Its very rare i complete anything twice these days, but this!

somehow it became one of my favorite games, along side fallout 2/planescape:torment :D

I have to admit i completed it without fully getting the dual screen gameplay... but that realy makes me want to come back to master it ...

Still one of the most-recommended RPGs in recent times.

On eBay, even loose carts go for $15-20, although sealed copies are only moderately higher.

I still haven't played it, but it's on my backlog so I will get to it at some point. Isn't there something with collecting pins that requires trading with other players? I kind of wonder how systems like these work after the game has ceased to be popular ... kind of like how it's impossible to get all the Pokemon with a single version of the game unless you can trade with someone who has the other version.

There is a slightly tweaked version available for iOS as well that sounds cool. Too bad I don't own anything that will run it ...

It's an amazing game, but be sure to use some screen protectors :)

Yes, it's clearly the highlight on the DS.

The combat was incredible fun. You could use a lot of different combat styles depending on what pin you were wearing and the game encourages you to fool around with it and try out different styles; there were hundreds of combinations and you could wear even the same pin multiple times or just use some passive attacks like earthquakes and firewalls only. Everytime when the combat started to get boring you just had to put on some other pins, et voila, new shit to play around. But that didn't happen to myself because everytime I got a new pin I couldn't wait to try out the new attack/defense.

Changing the difficulty on the fly had actually an impact on what the enemies would drop and was even required at some points of the game, so it wasn't a simple matter of more or less enemy hitpoints. What I love about this game is the fact that there was no default difficulty or playstyle. You had to find out what was the most fun and rewarding for yourself. I mean, the game let you choose if you want to control both characters at once or only one.

The whole fashion element, in combination with the open world, was a great idea where you could loose yourself just like the drug dealing in GTA: Chinatown Wars. The music was really fitting and the artstyle was perfect for the DS. Yes, it is the best looking DS game, no question.

Oh, and no grinding of some stupid character stats. While the pins had a handfull of levels you could try to level them up, there was no need for that. You could actually just put on the pins, play something else and the next time you would boot up the game the pins were on a higher level. Depending on how long you didn't play the game, the pins might even max out.

Such a great and fun use of the DS features. I remember reading that the same team (Jupiter) was planning to make a TWEWY 2 on the Wii, but it seems SE was too busy raping FF fans. Very sad, I would have loved to see such a gifted team working on the Wii.

Flawed, but still worth playing for the unusual setting/style and wealth of options you had at your fingertips to change the flow of the game to your liking; I really wish more RPGs would take such bone-simple efforts to both curb grinding and make repeated battles more rewarding overall. I'd definitely like to see them take another whack at it, especially with a bigger budget and the means to make the combat system just a touch more user-friendly.

Gah, I didn't even register that one...my forefathers' penchant for awful jokes truly can manifest itself at any time.
