Vita and Shmups
Vita and Shmups
Havinh recently bought a Vita, I was just wondering as to whether there are any good shmups available for the system, and whether you know of any that will be getting released in future?
Also, does anyone know as to what Treasure's plans are for the machine? I know that they're going heavy with the 3DS, but didn't they release a port of one of their Iuchi shmups on Android? With that being said, and with Ikaruga maybe coming out on PC, what is the likelyhood of RSG/Ikaruga being ported to Vita?
Speaking of which, and having mentioned Iuchi, does anyone know what his future plans and projects are? Will Kokuga be getting a release on Vita, and does Iuchi have anything in the pipeline for Vita?

G.Rev has announced their plans for a Senko no Ronde sequel on Vita, but we haven't heard anything about it since.
They also handled the Vita port of Sine Mora, though the game is still as atrocious as ever.

Best for the time being is flying hamster, but that's unfortunately not saying much. It's leagues better than sine mora though.
Re: Vita and Shmups
But Flying Hamster is a PSP game, not a genuine Vita game. If you count this one, you can add all the PS1 PSN classics as well.
Re: Vita and Shmups
If you can mod your Vita, there is that too. Any homebrew or emulators that were on the psp can be played on a modded Vita.
It's difficult to accomplish though.
Not sure if talk like that is frowned upon here, so I will just leave it at that.

How's Super Stardust Ultra or whatever it's called? Never played any of 'em, but they seem to get a fair amount of positive press.

Re: Vita and Shmups
Flying Hamster HD is native for Vita and sold as a vita game through the PSN store - not PSP classics or whatever. It may well have been released for PSP - I have it on iOS as well, but the Vita port is just that - a specific port for Vita.
Re: Vita and Shmups
oh, you're right. Didn't realize there was a "HD" version that's running natively on the Vita.

Re: Vita and Shmups
How easy is it to port PC games to Vita? I'm just thinking that now that Ikaruga has been confirmed for PC, surely this opens up the possibility of a low-risk port appearing on the Vita. Yes?
