Awful. I don't mind fanservice when it's well drawn and pulled off, and when you have other options besides a fanservicey girl (such as Sengoku Blade), but Cave's games are obnoxious in that regard. Particularly shit like squealing when grazing. Gets on my nerves.

And then there's Touhou, which has pretty much no fanservice in-game and the characters are all so badly drawn that it doesn't really matter.

There's room for stuff like Caladrius, but I also need my fix of Metal Black. In fact honestly if every game looked like Metal Black I would be totally satisfied.

Definitely some of my favorite aesthetics and music in any shooter. Game is fun as well. Aside from the classic Taito slo-mo ship.

NO! Bad example. The art in that game is horrible for reasons I won't get in to here and now and the lack of artistic enthusiasm from the art guys and constant grating is one of the reasons I got bummed with the game and it turned out as it did. Now I'm working with 2 artists, one of whom is female and wouldn't even flinch if I said "hey, let's make a hentai game". She's all for moe girls, T&A and is entirely heterosexual.

I personally like having female pilots in games, but it really doesn't matter. It's usually there to sell the game. You add moe girls, you attract attention from people who dig that sort of thing.

I'm fine with this. It's actually helpful in certain situations in PS such as brushing up against the Stage 1 boss during his downtime to graze additional points.

btw, there's a fine balance between loli for the sake of loli and cute Evangelion/Ghost in the Shell style pilots flying giant metal machines of death shitting laser beams everywhere and dropping bombs on the heads of enemies.

It's all about the theme. Touhou? Little magical witch girls. Deathsmiles/TWN? Same. Then you get on to DOJ which has element dolls creepy vacant expressions and then you're thrust in to a Bladerunner style landscape shooting things with precision to get your chain going and smacking shit to pieces with a giant laser.

Batrider has female pilots in it. Nobody complains. Batsugun.. same.. there's loads.

It's only a minor annoyance if it doesn't distract the gameplay. SDOJ's voice clips and stuff are too distracting for me, due to that I'm not sure I could enjoy it no matter how "good" it may be. It's not about female characters, naked female characters, loli or anything else like that (I like playing as female characters) It's simply about how something is presented and why I or others would find it annoying. Parodius is, well, a parody, there's supposed to be all kinds of surreal cutesy things in it, so I'm all for it. When it comes down to it, It's all about personal taste, and I refuse to believe that there are people whose opinion of a game is not at all affected by its aesthetics and presentation.

I find Deathsmiles II and Cho Aniki's art direction about equally contemptible. I'd have been just as tempted to kick my TV's screen in if Phelios had lovingly depicted Beefcakes McPowertop for several minutes at its conclusion while admonishing me to "be patient" instead of Hentai Cheesecake Girl. Beltiana and Kosame are A-OK with me. It's not about gender, just style.
