I just got my copy of Muchi Muchi Pork/pink sweets, and...
So, If I understand correctly, there's a standard version of the game with normal box art, and a "cave's best" version with ugly yellow border box art. Apparently the normal version is extremely rare and expensive while the cave's best version is just $30. I ordered the cave's best version from Amazon about a week ago, and they said it would take a month to get here. Well, I just got it today in an envelope with my address hastily written with a sharpie and a large customs label, and I got what seems to be the standard edition. Furthermore, there's a large pink sticker on it with lots of kanji, but it says in english "Ver." and "Xbox live" in a few places. Also when I tilt the box I can hear something sliding around. What does this mean?

Sounds like you got the Muchi Muchi Pork Matsuir Ver. first print DLC card included. The standard edition probably isn't really much more expensive, the cost of the original was due to a lower print run which the Best printing fixed.
The DLC card is a nice bonus, maybe adds $10 or $15 to the package's value. You did pretty well.

Can you redeem the card on US xbox live? I really don't want to jump through hoops just to get one DLC

Also, you sure it isn't that much more expensive? I just checked Amazon again and there seems to be a massive price difference

You'll have to redeem with a Japanese account. It's easy to make a Japanese account, and once it's downloaded any profile on your console can play it.
I guess I don't have any specific knowledge of MMP/PS, but I think typically greatest hits and original runs don't differ much in price. Most people are just looking to play, not collect.

I'm really not sure what to do now; I just wanted to play the games, but if I open the package, I'm throwing away $60 with that plastic wrapping. Then again, I don't know why I'd ever want to sell it... Jeez, I really want that festival DLC, but...! What do you guys think? Should I open it, or should I just buy another copy?
I can't believe my luck, but is it good or bad

Flip it for a profit and buy the cheaper version, use the extra money for hookers and blow.

This is such a tough decision... I want to just keep this on a shelf sealed as a trophy, but that sounds kind of stupid really. WHAT DO
If I make a decision, it has to at least be a result of peer pressure

Absolutely no reason to waste the fact that you got the version with the DLC code. Sure, it bumps the price, but it's also virtually impossible to play through any other means unless you either a) have the Cave Shooting Collection DLC or b) mod your xbox. Or c) buy the actual Matsuri version of the arcade board, but GOOD LUCK WITH THAT.
My opinion? Keeping a game sealed for display is silly beyond the realm of reason. Games exist to be played.

Yeah, I'm just going to open it; not like I'd ever want to sell it anyway.
I just really wish I could redeem this DLC without having to make a Japanese account, but... I'm probably just going to put off redeeming that DLC for a little while. The tutorials to make a japanese account I've been finding all seem to contradict each other, so...
By the way, how are these games compared to Battle Garegga? I've only played it through MAME, but I really love it. Like how similar are they?

If you want something even more similar to Garegga, play Ibara.

The games are very similar,as garrega, ibara, mmp and pink sweets are all made by yagawa.like Kai says, they all have very similar systems.they're bastards to play well...unless you're Kai!

So besides fighting the Pink sweets bosses right after the normal boss, is there anything else different about the matsuri version, or is that it?

It doesn't loop. I mean, the arcade game might as well not have. But technically, that's a difference.
I think you also get an extra bomb.

Well, I just opened it up, and it turned out that sliding noise was coming from the disc, which fell out of its holder during shipping
Aside from some small marks, it seems to play fine though. The interface is confusing me a bit though; it seems like the game autosaves, but I can see save and load options in the option menus; clicking on save brings up some prompt, saying no to it brings up what I think is a "are you sure" confirmation; also pressing x even in the local leaderboard brings up a prompt.
So, what do the save and load options do, and what does x do in the leaderboard viewer?

X I think finds your spot on that particular board. It's probably telling you that you haven't set a score yet (or you're looking on the wrong board)cave hermit wrote:Well, I just opened it up, and it turned out that sliding noise was coming from the disc, which fell out of its holder during shipping![]()

Save and load options save and load your options. No really, I'm not taking the piss. That's actually what they do.
There's a bunch of settings you can play around with on a per game basis, changing between game versions and difficulties. I recommend that you stick to default settings BUT change the version to 1.00 on the games because the 1.01 versions are considerably easier.
Also, something you MUST try is Pink Sweets Arrange Score Attack. Read Trap15's thread on the infinite hadou-gun in stragegy forum and then you will have found shmup heaven.

So, if save and load options just... save and load, what DO they save and load? The game autosaves local leaderboards, so is there something that only saves when you use the option?
