A Thing I'm Surprised Exists

Post by Edmond Dantes »

So on a whim, I looked up a thing on Google I was sure would not exist, and... it does. And in fact, Amazon sells it.

Lucky Charms... except, its MARSHMELLOWS ONLY

This... made my day, to say the least.

Don't look official. Probably not as many GMO's and preservatives as Lucky Charms marshmellows.

What the hell?

This reminds me of seeing Cap'n Crunch "Oops All Berries" cereal at the store. You can't have cereal that's just the crunch berries, that's madness!

There is no junk food, but you should see if iherb delivers to... or more importantly, if they are not censored by your country or residence's totally fucked up policies. You can get some good shit. Shipping to Japan: $4 USD flat rate for a box up to 30 lbs. It has changed my life.

The local dutch market sells lucky charms style marshmellows too.

It's really not that bad. I got police warnings trying to access porn in South Korea.

Also, there's a Chinese version of the site: http://cn.iherb.com/

Why would I want to shop here if there are no Lucky Charms? :(

Not really sure what you mean by "official." They don't claim to be a Lucky Charms-endorsed product, just to be marshmallows just like the ones found in cereal.

Getting Lucky Charms in the UK these days is insanely expensive, with import being the only option. And I bloody adore them.

£8 - £12 a box, and thus, when I go to the states for work, I bring back box-loads.

But if I could buy the marshmallows only and mix them with a cereal of my choice, I could be onto a winner. In fact, remember that brief time (here in the UK at least) Ricicles had marshmallow pieces? I could reconstruct my own bowls of cereals from that glorious chapter in the breakfast industry's history!

Well, let's see, a box of Lucky Charms (if it isn't on sale) would be in the $4.99 USD range give or take easily. If you can get it on sale, then it's a better deal in the end (say like three or four boxes for a mere $9.99 but the catch is that you'd have to buy a certain number all in one shot/purchase to get 'em at that sale price). Lately, the kid's cereals haven't included any slick or cool "must have" enclosed prizes/freebies. Sometimes, I've noticed that the kid's cereals being sold at the local Target would have freebies inside whereas at the local grocery stores, they wouldn't have anything inside the cereal boxes whatsoever.

You might recall that some Kellogg's specially-marked cereals back in 2008-2009 (for two years in a row), had a cool Xbox 360 emblazoned mini LCD game inside (including a dedicated STG variant one that's highly desired on the secondary mini LCD gaming market these days). Of course, you had to pay upfront for that cool cereal premium. I can't recall of any other cereal manufacturer including such a mini LCD game inside a box of cereal other than Kellogg's. To replace the battery that powers up those mini LCD games requires a special screwdriver with a bit in the shape of a triangle (but most screwdriver bits don't have that particular shape) to unscrew the LCD game's outer shell apart to replace it.

Of course during the Halloween shopping season, the seasonal General Mills cereals of Count Chocula, Boo-Boo Berry and FrankenBerry make their once-a-year appearance in the kid's cereal aisle. Back in the late 1970s and into the 1980s, they were available all the time -- but nowadays, it's regulated to the Halloween season for novelity's sake. It's a given in this day of age.

For Spadgy, you could just walk into an American grocery store and ask if they'd be willing to sell you a shipper's case of Lucky Charms...that'd be easier to have it shipped back to the UK. Just wrap some Kraft wrapping paper over the shipper case box, slap on a shipping label and you're good to go. It'd be cheaper and more economical to buy it by the case rather than buying each cereal box seperately. Not to mention that a USA based grocery store will buy the cereal at a wholesale price (by the caseload) and mark it up at the suggested retail selling price to earn their profit on it.

It's possible to buy American cereal on clearance marked down to a mere buck or two but it's not offered that often (only if the 'sell by date' is approaching rather close to it). Legally, American grocery stores can't sell groceries after the manufacturer's "sell-by-date" stamp/code has passed. Then it's either given away to the local food banks or charities that can make better use of 'em or sent back to the wherehouse for proper credit/reimbursement.

You could both just eat Lucky Charms out of an ass, and you'd both get what you wanted. Use two separate asses though, for hygene.

And PC Engine Fan X! - thanks for yet another post full of stuff I never knew! Somethings never change! :)

Of course. Perfect solution.

And lovely to see us mods setting the tone so well here. No puerility from us!

Of course, it's all Skyfid's fault!

I know those Cripix things, though never by name until now. Sounds like an interesting combinations. I guess now we know about buying the Marshmallows separately our cereal bowls are our oyster. We can recreate all kinds of classics.
