Cab 1 - Sound works, before the picture tube went black the image rolled at the top like a toilet roll. Could hear a clicking noise which would take longer to go away the more cold it was in the garage. This seemed to stop when the image straightened itself out. Now its gone black completely. Suspect capacitor issues.
Cab 2 - No problems. Except the image clarity seems to take a while. It seems blurry for the first 10 or so minutes.
Basically I am after someone who is fairly local who can bring these cabs into tip top condition (technically).
I will discuss payment/options when and if someone with experience comes forward.
The 2 cabinets are NEW astro cities. Would be interested somewhere around August. Would really appreciate some help here as cab 1 is a hori cab and I Can't play my MVS stuff at all. Not to mention half a dozen PCB's and its wasting space sitting there idle. If anyone knows anyone with expertise not on these forums, please pass the word around. I have someone who can work on these cabs, but he wants to change the chassis for some other one which I don't know if thats as good as someone changing just the bits that need changing.
regards,
Richie.

Cab 2 is capacitor issues, cab 1 more likely to be a transistor.
I can't fix them myself and you're likely looking at a substantial wedge of cash for anyone who's (a) likely to visit (b) able to fix them on site. We're talking plumber rubbing his hands together and giggling levels of money - buy a new cab amount rather than something you'd be okay with paying.
Your best bet is to find someone local-ish who is happy giving you a hand removing and fitting the chassis again (assuming your concern is inexperience messing around with the monitors) and sending them off to one of the UK monitor repair gurus.

Re: Need a cab engineer (Bedford UK)
Firebug (who used to post on here before taking peoples money) has given me the option of changing the chassis on cab 1. He rebuilds cabs quite a bit so I trust him as long as he does the work at my house. He wants to charge £100. But when I posted about this before people said to just change the caps over.
I have a local TV shop nearby. I bet someone in there knows how to fix CRT's but I don't know if I should trust them with a cab. Are there any defining differences between CRT's and CRT's?
The last option is giz10p. He said he would sort it out but I have to find someone who's able to take the bits out. I ain't in no way affiliated with handling expensive/fragile electronics. Then I have to hire the people back to put the stuff back in.
But thanks for chiming in Cools. I don't want to pay £500 for a cab fix. Seems like a lot.
