I was wondering if anyone has had experience with Taito x2 emulation?
How does it compare to the cabs?
A while ago I tried getting a version i found to work with no success so pretty much gave up on it but am still a little bit curious(!)
thank you
Taito x2 emulation
Re: Taito x2 emulation
It's not emulation considering its native. From what I've tried of blazblue cs it seemed to run perfectly fine.

what sort of hardware setup were you using?

At the time (this is going back like 3 years), I was running a Pentium dual core e2220 2.2ghz, Geforce 8400gs, 2gb of ram. I had to run BlazBlue in low resolution mode though. My current computer (core i5 2500k, geforce gts450, 8gb ram) runs it perfectly.
I can't imagine the Taito Typex2 based shmups being too demanding though. A computer with similar or better specs than the original arcade hardware (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taito_Type ... pe_X.C2.B2) should run them fine.
EDIT: I just realised, I don't think their are any X2 shmups that aren't Nesica, but the X shmups like raiden 3/4 would run on an even lower spec machine.

Re: Taito x2 emulation
It's cool to play the Taito Type X versions of Raiden III & Raiden IV in their original 640 x 480 formats (assuming if your candy cab has a tri-sync monitor from the get-go). As it is, the Type X platform sure needs some ample breathing room if up & running out in the open (and not in an enclosed candy cab setup). Works just fine with an Sega or Capcom JVS to Jamma I/O convertor (+ the need to use the 15kHz VGA port as well) if running on a low-res candy cab setup but'll be in 480 interlaced format at best. Both high scores and high scores initials are saved for posterity if powered down for the night with both R-III & R-IV Type X shmup titles. How cool is that?
