What are you currently shmupping?

Post by PsikyoPshumpPshooterP »

Right now, i am having a blast with Dangun Feveron. I want to 1cc it to 1-3 by today..having alot of good runs..this game is very manic and very intense and not so anal on chaining or gimmicks..What are you shmupping on right now and your mini goal for it?

Lately I've been playing R-Type Final a lot, since I just acquired it recently...aside from unlocking the ships, I'm looking to 1CC each difficulty level in succession, starting with Baby and working my way up.

This may well change soon though, as I have a whole load of PS2 stuff en route to me, Mushi included...

Hellfire, progress: not getting anywhere (sometimes I go to stage 2 and not dying, but that's it)

seriously this is the hardest Toaplan shmup, and thus it attracts me like moth to a flame.

also playing Zero Wing arcade, but the machine I'm playing it in has control problems, so I'm skipping it at the moment.
This causes to me a sensation of badness. - Stormwatch

Dogyuun PCB - Just got my hands on it last weekend. Pretty impressive stuff considering it's age. I haven't really gotten a chance to really put time into it yet but so far I like it. :)

Mars Matrix. Would like to get to at least 6 or clear (unlikely) with 1 trillion points. The last boss seems kind of hard.

ESPGaluda. I can almost 1cc it, just need to work on 5-2. I make it there without using the bomb/laser thing and without dying. Then I lose everything by the time I get to the second form of the boss.

Mostly Guwange

I can get to the level 5 boss, but he raped me hard. I've always had a hard time with fast bullets

Gunbird 2. It kicks my ass pretty hard. Made it to 1-4, but I still can't do so realiably. I usually play as Alucard or Marion, but am not completely happy with either.

Plowing my way (and having lot's of fun doing this) through Harmful Park!
This game has shot up itself in no time to be one of my favourite Horizontal shmups I've played in a long time. Really amazing graphics and lots of small inside jokes. Everyone should play this at least once in their live.

Besides HP I am doing my regular time with Trizeal and of course still waiting for Mushi hime sama. ;)

I'm playing Gradius 2 MSX and Biometal... And I must say that these games are humiliating me.

Gradius especially... It's driving me crazy. I've yet to reach stage 3! Perhaps it's because I have very little time to practice these days.

I've been a shmup funk lately, barely playing the genre. Right now I'm interested in platformers.

What's really gotten my attention recently though is In The Hunt. I've been playing it in MAME a lot lately, and I've been having a blast. I used to consider it a low priority for me to get on my Saturn, but now it's right near the top of my list.

I also played Chatting Parodius the other night. Got to the second to last level, last boss in the boss rush. Lost as usual.

I've recently put everything else aside so I can focus on Pulstar. I'm aiming for the SLC, since if you die, the game is over... well, I can do the final boss with the handful of power-ups they give you, but the rest of the game has to be flawless.

I made it right up to the final leg of stage 8 on my first life a few days ago (I figure that there were about 3 screen-lengths until the exit to the final boss). Still gotta practice stages 7 and 8 heavily though.

Yesterday I 1cc'd Steel Empire on Megadrive in Normal (not very hard).

Dunno what's next. Maybe I'll go back to Gunbird (PS1).

Although I'll probably play a non-shmup, since I just ordered the entire Star Soldier Series for PCE (incl. Star Parodier), and will probably be deep into those by the end of next week anyway.

Lots and lots of pool. And no, not the Pocket Gal kind. For the infrequent shmupping I'm doing now, it's mostly focused on Aero Fighters and Donpachi, as well as a couple other arcade shmups that I've had on my platter for a year or so.

I got a bit burnout with Mushi so I've switched back to ESPGaluda, and I'm working on a goal of a 40~50 mil score (perhaps higher). I'm having much more fun with Galuda than I did with mushi, but I'll go back to Mushi soon enough. It's just very frustrating to play in Yoko mode, I kept getting killed by shit I couldn't see. :? I've also been dabbling in Progear and ESP.ra.de as of late.

Ibara (ARC)
Battle Garegga (SAT)
AIRRADE Air (PC)

I try and keep my rotation small, and up to three games at most. That way, I can constantly improve on one or two, and have another to relax with, when I don't feel like heavy study.
