Hey there, just wondering if anyone knows how to fix this issue that started today. I have a sanwa modded hss-0136 for the Saturn and the stick is stuck going in the left direction. I've tried multiple Saturns as well as my supergun with the same issue. I opened it up and looked inside but I'm not experienced in this stuff =\.
Any idea what the issue may be?
Thanks d00ds,
Dave
Sega Saturn hss-0136 (virtua stick) stuck going left
Re: Sega Saturn hss-0136 (virtua stick) stuck going left
Probably either:
i) switch on joystick is stuck/broken - does it click/move just like other directions? If easy to do, or you've got a spare stick, try swapping switches to confirm if you suspect one... and/or simply remove switches - if the problem still occurs its not the switches, but somewhere else.
Which leads to:
ii) A ground wire/contact and left wire/contact are touching - most likely where wires from the stick join wires/contacts on the joystick's pcb, since that's usually the more fiddily part... That stick uses a common ground if I remember (google seems to confirm
... so in all likelihood you've got a clip on the joystick side with 5 wires coming off it (left, right, up, down, and common ground)? A direction is triggered basically whenever the directions circuit is closed with the ground contact. So if the joystick switches aren't the problem it's probably L contact touching the ground somewhere...
If it appears to be neither of the above check step ii) again
... And then check how the external cable joins the pcb for basically the same thing as ii)
Then perhaps we look to the pcb itself - see if there's any bare wires/scuffed parts touching the pcb, or any other visible damage to the tracks... you might be able to manually fix these.
If it is a pcb fault that isn't a physical repair you might be stuck - unless you can perhaps replace it with one from a cheapo beaten up virtua stick...But it is most likely a loose contact somewhere than a broken pcb...

Thanks a lot for the info man, I know its not the switches. I'll open her up and check out the board once I get a moment.
Appreciate it
