[SOLVED] Need help finding a bullet hell game from a few ...

Post by scutheotaku »

Hey all,

First of all, this is my first post here, so...hi! After not really playing them for quite a while (my brother used to play them on the SNES and Genesis, so that's mainly when I played them), I've recently been getting back into shmups, and it's been pretty cool to see that there's such a large online community really interested in this genre.

Anyways, I'd love some help finding a game. I don't remember what it was called, but I think that I can describe it fairly well. First let me say that I don't think it's the best shmup ever, and may not even be that good, but I have some good memories playing it with my brother a few years ago.

The game: it's a vertically scrolling bullet hell game. I played it about 5 or 6 years ago, though I'm not sure if it was new then. It was for PC, and it was a free indie title. The graphics style was vector-style lineart on a black background (sort of like Geometry Wars), and there may have been some bloom effects and such on the lines. The game was split into short stages, most of which ended with a boss (as I remember it, most of the boss fights were fairly short). After completing a stage, you were brought to a stage select screen where you could go to the next stage or (IIRC) skip forward to later stages. The stages on the select screen were split into four (or more?) columns, with the columns to the right being harder. Unlike a lot of bullet hell games (at least ones I've played), the game started out *extremely* easy, but the difficulty level started to go way up about midway through the first column of stages. I'm fairly certain that the title started with a "G", though I won't bet on that.

I've tried searching for this every way I could think of, but no luck. This leads me to believe that it was a fairly obscure game (though I'm not sure how we came across). Any help would be much appreciated :)

Thanks!

Ben

It at least sounds like a Kenta Cho game. Rrootage was ALL boss, or more specifically, a boss broken up into 5 iterations per stage.

If you still can't find it, check out Kenta Cho's page a little further in Sky Kid's link.

The way it sounded, I would've more likely guessed Noiz2sa, but that was on a white background by default.

Still, something to look into as well if you liked rRootage.
