https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/84483952/rere.mp3 newest, got a guitar now :D

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/84483952/comere.mp3 (probably psichodelya)

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/844 ... ge%202.wav G.M.O.S.S.E. stage 2 (so proud of this, gets so cool )

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/844 ... vaders.wav Blue-tit (android)

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/844 ... gacrux.mp3 Super killer bee (xblig)

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/844 ... 0level.mp3 Psichodelya

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/844 ... yupper.wav

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/84483952/intro.wav

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/844 ... iscore.wav

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/844 ... battle.wav

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/844 ... abyboy.wav

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/844 ... chtune.wav

More stuff is here but its not realy game related but its multi instrumental. http://www.myspace.com/dylanbarrymusic.

Oh shit, these are rad. I really hope somebody takes you up on this, because I'd like to play a game with your soundtracks. Would you be interested in anything other than shmups? I'm working on a dungeon crawler which could totally benefit from music like this, but it'll be a few months before that one's complete enough to matter.

Edit: My favorite of the three is the first one, "shmyupper," it would be really cool to hear something like that but with a more concrete groove (not necessarily melody) to it. Listening to your myspace stuff too, digging this as well.

Some props go to n0rtygames for pointing me in the right direction and seriously unnerving me with tales of shmup music that possesses you to sing "were all going to burn", repeatedly

No no no. "Burn you, Burn yourself. Burn you, Burn yourself. Burn you, Burn yourself. Burn. Your. Self."

It's all very subtle like that.

Okay i have a little feedback... Not that your music is not good, but some things i found lacking, personal opinion, you can discard it if you want.

- its too spacy, too much reverb on the synth, you probably can tone it down just a notch
- you need to add a hard drum
- where is the bass??? to be honest i couldn't here the bass. i always turn up the bass pretty much playing anything

you can probably listen to the stuff below to understand what i am saying:

http://youtu.be/xQv3dCkY2Tk Underground Resistance - Jupiter Jazz (where garegga stage 2 music comes from)
http://youtu.be/44ffwSL8VAg Hellsinker - The Way of All Flesh

I enjoyed this. The FM programming is quite nice. Which synth are you using? I've got an FB-01, but I never use it just because it doesn't integrate with my DAW well.

EDIT: Now is as good a time as any to plug my VST :D It's FMmy http://extentofthejam.com

Nothing amazing just old home pss460 and a pss580, all going through emagic logic 5.1 ...with some basic effects...im not clued up on programming.
Ive definatley got some kind of "sega megadrive" stuff going on though, which was the aim of it all :)

Im glad you enjoyed, i hope it inspired :D thanks for the encouragement!

Wait, that's all Portasound? Wow! I used to have one of those and they're pretty limited. Your production definitely brings out the best in them.

Yeah, heard it. awesome.
If your going for that sound, leave the reverb on, add very little distortion, to get that dirty SMD synth sound...
anyway cool job bro, awesome tracks...

Just a little loop, sort of perfecting my technosoft inspired, absolutely manic, swirling undertow with completely transcendental celestial bits on top style.

Again, anyone need music?,... it helps me with my profile.

Most of this stuff is used, but every tune i make i progress a bit, so a bit of strategy involved there ;)

I took your advice about the hard drums ;) (and reverb actualy ) , expect some banging celestial techno metal to blow stuff up to. I never planned on being one of these thump ..thump.. thump ..guys, but!!! id kill stuff to this, im actually going to speed things up quite a bit..
This is just the seed of the idea.

I realise this is a bit of a long shot considering your XII Stag-like tracks but if you could make anything MD-styled that fits with GMOSSE I'm sure it'd be much appreciated as a replacement for the Gleylancer tracks. :)

Sure no problem, if you pm me the length and what sort of thing you want...tbh this stuff is lazy compared to what i can do ..just samplers.

I think, in this age its easy to go for the "feel" of something , rather than the technical execution..a bit shameful in some ways, but luckily , my o.c.d. wont let me cut any corners!!

I had to google xii stag :\ , nice..

Yeah, XII-Stag and G-Stream G2020 are quite good (and short) loops.

Regarding length, it's a bit tricky, for example the first boss is very much tuned to the music but the song file itself is only some 58 seconds or something. I'll have to get back to you with specifics.

This any good ? https://dl.dropbox.com/u/84483952/gmosse.wav done it this morning

**its a bit of a grower, one of them tunes that sounds completely different everytime you hear it ..

(my keyboard isnt far off the older model that uses the YM2413 (in the master system), a couple of models up, so its inbetween the ms and the megadrive im guessing)

I'm really liking it but I don't think it fits in with GMOSSE itself very well at all unfortunately. I reckon I might use it for a sideproject of mine though if that's allright with you. Very XII Stag-like. :D

You got any other similar music apart from what you've already upped so far?

Yeah sure, as long as i know, so people arnt finding their tracks in other games :P

Its going to be hard to distance yourself from that gleylancer stuff..having had it so long. Ill do a couple more that arnt as manic, i dont quite think this last one works, too much going on perhaps..
Gleylancers a bit more tuneful.

**oh, if theres any parts that you like in that i can remix it all just loop certain sections that work better..

I do actually like most of the track, the main issue is timing and loopability (it's easy to loop a song that was already looped on the MD in the first place but I'm not so confident with your newer tracks).

If you'd like maybe I can send a build of GMOSSE in its current form with your track put in and see what you make of it?

Yeah sure,

its going to be hard to rip yourself away from gley lancers vibe but i guess its going to have to be done at some point..
Maybe if you add me on steam (Rail_Slave) we can talk about it in depth a bit more, im all about the "productivity" lately

Gley lancer is pretty tuneful over being just flat out spacey. But, i have all that saved in individual tracks so i can move it around a bit, was just trying to make something a bit more progressive....but maybe the pacing of it is all over the place for a "balls to the wall" shooter.

maybe it shouldnt stop half way through ...not realy a good idea unless the same thing is happening on screen..

edit: hows this, its shorter more immediate and i try to keep pace with that 80s sega megadrive galloping bass ;)

https://dl.dropbox.com/u/84483952/gmosse%202.wav

oh btw , what do you think of this, https://dl.dropbox.com/u/84483952/rpgtune.wav , needs a bit of work

couldnt help stopping for that guitar riff though :? that can be changed if you want it to keep going

While thats getting sorted ill have a go at doing some intro and continue screen music...

Just an update and to clarify stuff , put all my cards on the table.

Im currently composing stuff for "consideration" with these games :

Psichodelya
GMOSSE
Last Chance

All will be completely unique loops and tracks.
But heavily stylized. to keep that numetal/industrial/grunge/techno/spacey stuff as late 80s- early 90s as possible.

Hopefully this will avoid any unwanted "tears before bedtime " ;)

All about that "portfolio", on my end.

Had a bit of a set back as the kids turned my synth off and i had to reprogram all my token sounds...they dont make synths like that anymore..

Re: Musician available for spacey cyber grunge soundtracks

Post by Nana »

No more retro? Cyber grunge is where it's at now, huh?

Cool as the new track is, I don't think it sounds as distinctive as your earlier works. Maybe a bit of a more abrasive tone ala Les Rallizes Denudes or a ring mod would do you well . Here's a random example by Les Rallizes Denudes of what I was referring to with the tone: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N-Rr_ljh7yE. Yours definitely does have that cool space grunge vibe down, but is too conventional in terms of song structure IMO.

Very cool stuff as always, but I think the drums on your recent tracks are starting to sound too alike. Except for "Super Killer Bee." That track is AWESOME, haha.

Do you still have the links to all of the earlier stuff by the way? I would always click on a few of them whenever I'd enter this thread.
