supergun + pcb, box size?

Post by Jeneki »

Hey all. I have a young kitten staying at my place now, so anything left out in the open will be jumped on repeatedly  . Therefore, I need to build a box to house a supergun + jamma board, safe from SUDDEN KITTEN DEATH when in use.

I'd like to future-proof it to fit any boards I pick up in the near future, so I'd like some opinions on what would be a good size.

I'm mostly interested in late 80s to mid 90s jamma boards. I only have a few jamma boards at the moment (Seibu boards) so I'm not sure if their size is typical. I may add some cartridge systems such as a single-slot MVS or Sega ST-V in the near future as well, so headroom for those is a good idea.

I'll also add some fans for air circulation, which should be easy since I already have a power supply hooked up to the supergun.

This sounds like a fantastic project! I'm in the process of making a storage solution for my supergun gear & pcbs. A convenient, smart, and secure gaming area would make life easier when I'm too lazy to immediately pack it up.

My first thought would be to make it modular. Maybe a dedicated box for the supergun & different boxes for PCB / cartridge games?
