I was wondering if we could collect a list of display testing hardware and software.
This is an old article, but the reviewer puts the displays through quite a battery of tests and even though it is from 2008, I'm sure plenty of you would love to hear about the kinds of tests he used.

The one that particularly interests me is the Motion Resolution test, many displays can resolve 1080 lines with a static image, but when fed an image with a lot of motion often they fall apart.
This next link doesn't so much test displays as it does sources, specifically game systems

this youtube user, ps360frame uses a tool that measures dropped frames, frame lag, screen tearing etc. for a number of different games, he often compares the 360 vs the PS3 version of a game.
I was wondering if anyone here know what kind of hardware/software he is using to measure this. If you know please leave a message below.
I was also wondering what kind of hardware could tell you what resolution, horizontal refresh rate, and vertical refresh rate a source is putting out, or a display is rendering, at all times.
Also what about a device that tells you what kind of audio or video codec a blu-ray is using. Any information is welcome.
EDIT:
Also, how do the people in this forum measure what the true native rendering resolution of these games are?
http://forum.beyond3d.com/showthread.php?t=46241
How do they know if a game is rendering at 1920x1080 or 1280x720, etc.
EDIT 2:
does anyone know how these guys capture and produce the media for their head to head reviews?

Native resolution is measured by "pixel" counting I believe.
Basically they take a close look at single rendered frames. They somehow know how to ignore filter/scaling artefacts. I understand that it is something of a fine art. There are no doubt forums detailing the exact process.
