Rules
Japanese defaults only.
- Japanese/World ROM set only (NO China set)
- Saturn version is acceptable (NO Red Ball mode)
- To set up Japanese defaults: Bonus Life should be "Every 1000k", and Region should be "Japan", and Lives should be "3".
NO Stage Edit.
1 credit only.
Autofire is allowed.
Be attitude for gains.

Scoring system
Blow shit up
Bomb shit up
Don't drop medals

Submission format

Subtype is the button used to select the ship, right? I haven't looked up anything about this game yet; I just recall something saying that pressing Shot a lot increases rank. Thankfully, I don't use autofire.

EDIT: According to the ST thread, region makes a difference. I had it set to Europe for this.

EDIT 2: This score is invalid, since the region wasn't Japanese.

It's probably been nearly a year since I was working on this game and I can't put down a half decent run for anything right now :( Here's hoping it all comes back before Thursday.

This is also my first time playing it seriously in mame, I'd only worked with the Saturn version before. Maybe I can make something happen with some savestate practice.

Regardless I just love this game <3

Messed up the bomb on Mad Ball 2. Could have had a reaaaal nice run if I'd hit it - maybe been able to get through Black Heart with the extra life?

Fucking idiotic mistake on Black Heart drones, one dropped a medal and I dove straight into one of the other drones fire on reflex. I can do better, I haven't even beat my personal best yet, it's just a matter of having time to do better...tomorrow is my last day to play, really :( Thanks for giving me a full uninterrupted week for Gun Frontier milking and 3 days for for one of my favorite games.

Good thing this game got picked. Learned how to switch to Japanese version (lives every 2 million in Europe version was driving me nuts), and discovered there are different ship types depending on the button you push when choosing it! This B type Wild Snail felt faster than the others, dunno about the green bullets (i don´t see the differences explained in the strategy thread).

To put the cream on top, i make my best run ever (no doubt helped by extra ships at 1m) and reach third boss, very nice start :mrgreen:
