I got my hands on a used but in good condition Extron RGB 202 Rxi. First i tryed an HD15 (VGA) to DB9 adapter i buyed in a electric store, just to find the Extron 202 is not that standard, dowloading the manual in pdf from the web i changed the wires and got it to work, gives a rock solid image with my dreamcast connected by VGA to my crt vga monitor, other VGA devices worked too. Meanwhile i conected my Arcade's forge Syncstrike to test it with 15hz sources, using my rgb scart cable in my dreamcast i can't sync the image. The image syncs for a few seconds and then starts to roll again.
So...
The extron works fine with VGA 31hz sources
The dreamcast works fine trought RGB scart to my TV and philips cm8833
My VGA to scart cable works too
My dreamcast conected to syncstrike, to the extro, outputing trough RGBHV don't sync.
Any sugestions?

Re: Extron RGB 202 Rxi
15khz should work. It works on my 203.
Have you tried both RGBs and RGBHV output with the 15khz source connected ? If the 202 is like the 203 then it got different output connectors for C-Synd and HV-Sync.

Re: Extron RGB 202 Rxi
Yes, i tryed both, it has a separete output conector for C sync. But with only RGB + C sync connected it won't give me image, only in RGBHV, but the image fixs for a few seconds and then starts to roll without sync
Re: Extron RGB 202 Rxi
Hmm, and how do you connect the RGBHV output to the cm8833 when the monitor (and the TV) only have c-sync inputs ?
Re: Extron RGB 202 Rxi
Extron RGB outputs to a RGBHV bnc to vga cable, and a gender changer, vga to Scart to tv or phillips cm8833. Initialy i conected my 4 BNC to Scart but because of no image i tryed the RGBHV, and the picture shows but rolling
Re: Extron RGB 202 Rxi
but that VGA to Scart adapter you use, probably just uses a single sync line doesn't it ? So that would of course be rolling. You would have to make sure that both the H and V sync line are used and merged together into a C-Sync signal.
Re: Extron RGB 202 Rxi
But if i use this cable conected to the syncstrike = Dreamcast scart RGB - Syncstrike - VGA to scart - phillips cm8833 the picture is OK. Or with that setup the cable will work with H and V sync separately?
Meanwhile i will open the cable and check, which scart pin i should solder both the H and V sync?

Re: Extron RGB 202 Rxi
But the sync strike uses the same pin for H and C-Sync, while the Extron does not.
Maybe the C-Sync output on the Extron works, but you're just forwarding the wrong sync pin into the Scart connector.

Re: Extron RGB 202 Rxi
Probably, because this was my first home made vga to scart cable. Where can i check the correct pinout for it?
Re: Extron RGB 202 Rxi
but wait, i forgot, i tryed with my keene 4 bnc to scart cable too, and using the C sync output it won't give image either
Re: Extron RGB 202 Rxi
Ok, problem found and solved. The problem was in the input and not in the output. The Extron RGB 202 don't seems to like the syncstrike device. Tryed the jumber for C-sync and H-sync but the problem remains. Solution found when i tryed conecting my dreamcast with an rgb scart cable. With syncstrike won't sync, so i pulled off the scart cable and conected my DC vga box, the signal was still in 15khz but now conected directed to an vga cable to DB9 adapter to Extron, and voilá, rock solid image with RGBS output, 4 bnc to scart to my phillips cm8833. I will now try to make a scart female to DB9 to conect other scart consoles to extron
