Guwange - the band?

Post by Op Intensify »

http://guwange.bandcamp.com/

Guwange the band is a "Vaguely-punk rock related anti-folk thing happening in and around various portions of south-east TX (mostly Houston) involving guitar-slinger Rex Ronan and a rotating cast of other musicians playing other things. We play in parking lots and anime convention elevators."

In other words, it's drunken hipster bullshit with no idea of what it's trying to be. He could at least give some explanation for the name. Probably just something he stumbled upon in a torrented romset list that he thought sounded cool. I'm sure he doesn't even know what the fuck Guwange means (though, neither do I). It's supposed to be a band but I think most of it is just one guy in his bedroom with a guitar and a cheap mic. Also, "Rex Ronan" is an infamous anti-smoking edutainment game for the SNES.

The music really, really sucks. This coming from someone who occasionally likes lo-fi punk acts. There's been absolutely zero work put into mixing and mastering it, so the vocals are painful to listen to. Doesn't help that he can't sing. At least he isn't trying to make any money off of it. And there aren't currently any other options if you're looking for a Christian Weston Chandler cover album.

This barely deserves a thread, but I thought we might as well all point and laugh at this loser who's appropriated the name of a popular shmup for his own use. If you really want, you can see him live at a club in Houston, TX on the 16th.

Huh, that German guy ScHlAuChi is apparently still out there somewhere.

Anyway, that makes the thread for me.

IIRC "Guwange" is supposed to be the sound that ghosts make or something

Kind of like "Oooooooooooo" here ... but obviously in Japanese it's different for some reason. Like how we use "woof" for a dog noise and Japanese use "wan" or something

Lawsuit in the way, CAVE?
I rather listen to Nerve than this terrible artists. Punk-Folk music played with a ukelele and a horrible voice is a no-no in my department.

Or it could be a coincidence.

A few years back my anime friends were talking about how bad their email is and they wanted to rename their hosting service to "masaka!" (an overused expression in anime when someone is surprised). Turns out there is a web hosting service called Masaka, but it's in Jamaica and has absolutely nothing to do with the Japanese meaning.

Absolutely disgusting vocals. It gave me a headache almost instantly. I would rather hear my mother getting raped for four hours with me tied up and helpless to do anything to stop the assault.
