videogame convention in vienna: Radiant Silvergun STV Raiden

Post by Raidenfighter Kirkov »

Hi !

Maybe some of you have the chance to visit the "world of games".

A videogame convention which will be held from 11. august to 2. september 2005 in Vienna.

You can play over 100 consolgames from the late 70ies (pong) to the newest systems.

There are also 20 arcadecabinets to play (afterburner deluxe cab, out runners, KLAX, super hang on only to mention a few).

There are also some shooters  but please dont expect raiden 3 or such stuff.
Its much more vintage stuff like Galaga or Raiden 1.

The link to the infopage (sorry only in german language):

www.world-of-games.at

There will be also two tournaments (held on the last weekened in august and september).

As i heard you can win really nice prices (PS2 bundles, x box bundles and perhaps a PSP bundle).
So stay tuned.

Greetings
RFK

Update:

At the moment you can play Radiant Silvergun, Bells and Whistles, Parodius and Raiden (all original pcbs)

We will change the pcbs in a few weeks...maybe there will be some cave games too.

Moved to off-topic as it's not directly related to shmups.
No matter how good a game is, somebody will always hate it. No matter how bad a game is, somebody will always love it.

While there will be shmups in there, I understood the convention deals with arcade games of all types, so I think it's more appropiate in this section.

I mean, c'mon...Pong? Actually, I'd want to try playing a real Pong machine. I've also heard there exists a Pong that gives electroshocks when you miss a ball, my masochistic side wants some of that action. Though I doubt that machine will be at the convention...

Hi !

Yeah...you are totally right...the thread should be placed in the OT section.

I know that special PONG machine. As i remeber right, this was a project from a few art students.

Imagine an arcademachine where you will get an electroshock if you use the smartbomb button...or if you lose a ship.

:D

Hahaha...you would think that shock treatment would make someone better at a shmup but I bet it would be the opposite; whenever someone thought they they might be in trouble they'd just take their hands off the controls and be sure to lose their ship :D

Hm...damn you are right again.
But imagine a flyer for this arcade machine:

DODGE or you will feel the pain of losing control over your ship !

I remember one time at CAE-'98 show...

Post by PC Engine Fan X! »

I went to my first California Extreme '98 show in San Jose on Labor Day weekend and there was this old vintage pinball game set on free play...so I pushed the credit button to start and started playing it. By pressing the flipper buttons, sometimes I get a mild electric shock. I thought that pinball game needed some adjustments made so the player doesn't get shocked...by the way, the flipper buttons on that particular pinball machine were metal.

About playing pong and getting hurt, it's called the "Painstation." If you miss hitting the ball, you get a big shock. The Painstation hurts really bad if you know what I mean. I saw the Painstation on a show before.
