free to play games

Post by Aguraki »

hi this thread is about all kind of f2p games.
share the games that have good f2p value(i.e the play part should be more cosmetic than edge vs other players).

so far Ive only played league of legends and havent spend a single $ on this game.
not paying really doesnt put u at a disadvantage expect on time.
I just downloaded blacklight retribution, multi player fps but Im not sure after trying it you can compete with paying players(have only played a few hours).

Airmech is the first thing comes in mind.

But hey, it's a Herzog Zwei-styled game. And the only thing you can only purchase with RL money are different paint jobs for your mech/units, the rest still can be purchased with in-game monetary.

Seconding AirMech. Very good game. They take the philosophy of going against pay-to-win and instead charge on custom skins.

I think you can still get the Chrome Saucer if you play the Chrome version for in-game kudos though.

Quake Live
It's free to play, but you can also be premium or pro member and then you get more maps and game modes. Start own games!
Its the best F2P fps out there, it's QUAKE :D. And it's no annoying feature like paying customers gets better weapons.
It's all fair and go on skill and not best build of weapons and shit.

World of tanks.

There's a whole thread on it here somewhere but it's been getting better and better since launch. You can pay for certain stuff but none of it really is pay to win.
The universe is neither hostile nor friendly, simply indifferent.

Even without my umbillical cable attached I still have over 12,000 plates of fortified armour AND I have my AT Field! There's NO WAY I can lose!!

For the most part Tribes Ascend is really good. It's worth it to buy something once because it increases the rate that you gain xp. Other than that it's not bad at all, the weapons are overpriced, but not having the better weapons rarely puts you at a significant disadvantage.

Blacklight Retribution sounds interesting, it has some kind of free wallhack for everybody

Obviously Team Fortress 2 is now FTP as well.

Didn't even know about most of the other games mentioned here, like Tribes Ascend. :)

Seconding Quake Live. Most legit F2P game out there by far. They recently added more extra gametypes to the paid subscription, including Red Rover, which sounds pretty awesome.

AirMech really isn't as close to Herzog Zwei as I would like, sadly.

There's a new Mechwarrior coming out that's going to be free to play. It's getting a super expensive Steel Battalion-esque controller, though I wouldn't invest in such a thing for a game that most likely won't be playable in any form in ten years.

I'd pass on Hawken when it's out. Amazing graphics, but the developers have admitted they don't have any interest in making a real mech game, and it's just going to be a standard FPS with robot skins. It's gonna have its own giant control panel though.

Virtually every MMO now is moving that way. More obscure are foreign things like Shin Megami Tensei Imagine, and Phantasy Star 2.

And that tacticsy thing. I think it's called Atlantica.
PSX Vita: Slightly more popular than Color TV-Game system. Almost as successful as the Wii U.

Gun Bros is free, though you do have the option of buying upgrades and weapons.
