Ganelon will be there taking people's money in Super Street Fighter II Turbo I'll be there doing a location test with my UD-CPS2. Who else is going? Here's the stream for those who want to enjoy from home (July 6-8): http://evo2012.s3.amazonaws.com/live/index.html

I wish I could go this year, but by the time I knew whether I could go or not, regular passes were sold out
I went last year, though, and I'll never forget it. My vocal cords are probably permanently damaged from how loud us Tucson guys were screaming for Latif.
I was there last year, too! Latif, man. That guy left a trail of S-tier bodies! I'm hoping this year provides as much or even more hype! You are coming to Devastation, right?

One of these years I should really try to get down to EVO (as a spectator, my fighting game skills are basically zero.) Skilled fighting game players are one of the more entertaining things to watch in gaming.
I'll be very interested in checking out the UD-CPS2, undamned! Once it's mass produced, I think new folks will have a much easier time playing arcade ST, especially with PS3/360-compatible controls.
I'm back! EVO was a lot of fun! Got to meet a ton of people and the location test for the UD-CPS2 went great! Still have some things to iron out, but all in all I'm quite pleased with the testing. Ganelon is way cool, by the way

No joke, after some reflection, I actually enjoyed Soul Calibur V finals moreso. KOF was one of those "had to be there" things. I'm not a KOF fan but I felt like I was at a Soccer game in some other country. People were going bonkers. UMVC3 was great. Tons of nail biters and F. Champ redeemed himself by winning with legitimate solid play and not Phoenix cheese.

AE was pretty weak in hype this year. If it wasn't for Infiltration's amazing Akuma gameplay, it would have been terrible. I've never seen a player just completely dominate so easily in evo top 8. He pretty much just steam rolled everyone in EVO, even in money matches. He made Daigo look like a newb, and never lost one game in his whole evo. Amazing.
Marvel was great and so was KOF.
Filipino Champ always makes me laugh when people interview him. So snobby, but you can't really say anything because he really did prove that he's the best that day. That's why I can't hate the guy, even though he acts like that.
Yeah once that version comes out with with xbox live psn, it'll be real popular.
I still think Arcsys should just make GGXXX and bring back the GG hype. Many people will be scared to get into GGXXACPlusR(look at that damn name with all the revisions) all those years they have to play catch up. A brand new game would be fresh for everyone, just as long as they don't make it shitty like the BB series. Don't water it down, or make it slower, and keep all that advance tech in the game.
Yeah, AC+R is only going to have any appeal with established fans. It's a way to milk them yet again, get GGXX on NESiCA, and keep the tourney scene alive. I'm sure they're working on a new GG, they wouldn't have spent all that money to buy the license back from Sega for nothing. I bet it'll be a crossover with BB. There's a lot of fan demand for such a thing, and they wouldn't have to draw as many new sprites for the GG characters all at once. If Persona 4 Ultimate gets a major revision we'll have to wait longer for it, otherwise I doubt it's too far off.
I don't think BB is shitty though, even if it isn't as good as GGXX. You must have played some truly shitty fighters before: MK, Killer Instinct, Deadliest Warrior. Yeah, it's not those.
It's shitty because I'm comparing it to GG. It was promoted as the new GG, but in the end... it was just a water down version of GG.
Unplayable for me because it felt like going backwards from what Guilty Gear had established. Everything about BB was a downgrade.. art, music, character design, gameplay, speed. The only thing I can really say that was better were the graphics...
But characters like Carl, Bang, Platinum, Relius, Hazama, Tager, Lambda, and Nu are all close to GGXX's standards of mechanical design, and kick ass in their own right. We also got shitty dumbed-down characters like Ragna/Jin/Noel, but they don't invalidate the good examples.

Can't believe they put garbage like MK9 or SFxT as main tournament games. ST deserved to be a main game (too bad Nuki and Kurahashi couldn't attend), and KOF was excellent. Hope the US scene grows after the great numbers it pulled.
The AE finals were definitely disappointing. Poongko was way off his game, most of the matches were complete blow ups, and everybody was free to Infiltration, so it wasn't very exciting to watch. This post-EVO interview with Daigo is kinda funny, too. When he's asked about losing to Xiao, he says he was still feeling overwhelmed from his previous match. Infiltration must have really mind-fucked him.
The KoF13 and ST tournaments were easily the highlight of EVO for me.
Vokatse wrote:SFxT was a disappointment, so I don't know if Street Fighter has enough content to keep people going. As time goes on, people move away, so that's just what may happen here. Of course, there are other fighting game franchises for them to move to, but I do not think any are as popular in the US as Street Fighter.
I predict (and I'm really hoping) SFxT dies out with a quickness after this last EVO. Only way I can see people continuing with it is if EVO 2013 offers huge payouts. I wouldn't go so far as to say the game is garbage, I think they did a commendable job with what they aimed to do (bring both worlds together), but compared to the other competitive fighters, it just doesn't bring the hype. I would be quite pleased if Tekken Tag 2 pushes it out of the way. I'm not even a Tekken player and that game looks exciting.

Too bad .. SFxT had a chance to be something cool, but Capcom really blew it with the community when they did that on-disc DLC and DLC gems crap.
Personally, I think if the competition had been better, the SFxT finals could have been pretty hype. But it's obvious none of the players really practiced it that much.
Thank to all people who were involve of Super Street Fighter II Turbo Tournament of Legend! It was great to watch all these MASTER players!Kusumondo Honda is a beast!
Anyone actually remember hearing about Tekken x Street Fighter? They announced it alongside SFxT, it was supposed to be a 3D Tekken-style fighter with the same characters.
It's almost certainly gonna be canceled after the terrible reception of SFxT.

Harada wrote:"There's still a large number of players out there with a PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 who are looking forward to the game," Tekken producer Katsuhiro Harada explained. "So we feel it's probably more relevant to get the title out to them on the current hardware."
"We're not completely sure," he continued, "but that's the direction at this moment."
