G-Rev and Treasure developing for Xbox360 (ports of Type-X?)

Post by EOJ »

Just saw at the Xbox summit in Japan the other day it was announced
that both G-rev and Treasure have signed on to develop games for the Xbox360. What's also interesting is both companies are currently developing shmups on the Type-X hardware (well, I'm assuming Treasure is, as all their previous arcade games have been shmups). Could it be they'll port these to the x360, and that's why they signed on? Perhaps the x360 hardware is best suited (or easiest) to port from the Type-X hardware? I wonder if the 'x's in both hardware names are any indication.

Interesting to think about. I guess we'll have to wait and see what develops over the coming months. If Treasure releases Project RSG-3 (sequel to RSG and Ikaruga) on the x360, then I will have to buy an x360.

Oops. I see there's already a thread for the G-rev news. Sorry about that.

Signing on does not really mean anything at all. How many companies signed on for Phantom or Nuon?

Yeah, I think just about everyone is "signing on". Although Treasure and G.Rev put out so little, one game is a large percent of their library.

I think signing on for companies like G-rev or Treasure means something. They don't sign on to many systems, and as far as I know Treasure has developed for every system it's signed on for. I don't know of G-rev developing much outside of the DC though.

And as for the Phantom and Nuon, give me a break, how many small Japanese shmup developers officially signed on for those? Come on, it's not even remotely comparable to the x360 situation I'm talking about, particularly with the possible link to the Type-X arcade hardware I mentioned. :?

It still means relatively nothing. I bet both companies announce new titles on non 360 hardware before they jump to 360.

Especially for shmups.

the hardware is completely different. well other than both using ati for graphics, but theyre different there too. i dont see g-rev touching type-x just because the cost of the hardware right now, and the amount of naomi systems out there already, combined with them already knowing naomi pretty well.

treasure on the other hand, i have no clue. i wouldnt be surprised if they used one of segas new boards for rs-3 (if they do one in the first place).

Shit.

Now I need to get a 360. Hopefully MS will bring it over here, otherwise I'll wait for it to be cross-ported to PS3.

Yeah, G-Rev stated that they were very content with the NAOMI hardware and will continue to support it. MileStone seemed to be in the same boat. I doubt God even knows what Triangle Service will try next, though.

Namco will develope Ridge Racer 6 for XBox360 platform...

Post by PC Engine Fan X! »

This isn't shmup related (but is X-Box 360 related) Namco will be developing it's latest arcade racer for the X-Box 360 platform. I just assumed that when ever Namco was going to get around to developing Ridge Racer 6, that it would possibly appear on the Playstation 3 console.

At the very least, I get to enjoy the cool 60 fps sliky-smooth Ridge Racer on my PSP. It would be cool to be able to play PSP Ridge Racer on a bigger screen TV monitor...perhaps, a hacked PSP with Japanese RGB or S-Video output will appear one day on the internet...unless Sony has a special PSP prototype with video outputs already made.

Ah ha, ha ha!

I check their site every so often to see if they're (he's) up to anything; I'd really like it if I could own a second new game by Triangle Service but I suppose that anything could happen...

As for G.rev and Treasure; I just read the new weekly magazine at the G.rev site and was somewhat surprised to see them come out with big smiles about the X360 announcement (being that I'm now used to developers signing on for new hardware and then not doing anything with it). Even more interesting is how they seem to be eager to tell about a new project pertaining directly to that announcement, but can't quite give out any information yet (of course).

Perhaps Border Down's going to see a second outing on this mind-controllingly powerful hardware? I imagine that with the capabilities of the hardware, little optimization would be required of the software (as is the Microsoft way, aho ho).

(These are simply random musings at four in the morning, when I should be sleeping. They might also be others' musings as well, as I haven't read anyone else's impressions on the matter.)

You mean a third? Or are you simply ignoring the fact that XII Stag exists? ;)

Well, er, ...

I'd actually not mind trying XII Stag, but I don't have a PS2 to play it on... So, I said "... if I could own a second new game... " also indicating that because I have Trizeal, a second new one would then have to be newer than that.

(It'd be funnier [in the sad way] if I had been forsaking the game, though. Actually, that Mushihime-sama seems like a nice package! A Japanese PS2 may be in my future... So, I might someday play XII Stag after all! Until then, the XII ships in Trizeal will have to suffice.)

Maybe G.rev's going to announce that Triangle Service are merging with them and will be producing an extreme version of Project LAMBDA for X360. TS did mention in that old S.O.S. that it'd be an idea to produce the game for the Revolution or PS3, and it seems like they (sort of) produce similar games and would be somewhat compatible...

(I'd rather have TS around though, of course. G.rev would kick too much original ass by themselves, if TS joined them. TS simply need some more hard workers to help Mr. Fujino out.)

Hmm. Imagining a scroll shooting game with all of the superfluous graphical capabilities of these next-generation systems gives me a strange feeling.

I was hoping Sega would announce a Chihiro 360 or something of that sort. The Aurora board will probably be around the Hikaru'slevel, but I was sure I heard Lindbergh will actually be superior to even PS3 and X360 (I take that with a grain of salt though).

The closest Lindbergh game to actual production is House of the Dead 4- System16 shows a cabinet and the machine gun it will use. I'd like to see Sega make Thunder Blade 2 on this system with the overhead shmup levels kept in.

The only Japanese shmup related thing I heard regarding Nuon was Night Raid, but that turned out to be vaporware and instead was done on PS.

I can see G.Rev using the Aurora board as the successor to Naomi, considering it uses an SH-4 and a later gen of Power VR.
Kinect? KIN NOT.

Aurora seems to be inbetween NAOMI | Atomiswave and NAOMI 2

Lindbergh seems to be almost on par with Xbox 360, but won't outperform Xbox360 or PS3.

the Xbox 360 and PS3 would be both good platforms to recieve ports of TypeX, Aurora and Lindbergh arcade games
